Tiny Bookshelf: Verse Novels

If you haven't read a novel in verse, then you're missing out. For some reason, adult literature doesn't dive into verse as often as young adult or juvenile lit does. Why? Honestly, we can't figure it out. A novel in verse can be a powerful thing. Try it. You'll see.

Check out a whole list of novels in verse here.

In 2022, Prince Memorial Library was awarded Island Institute funding for the project Climate Change and the Shell Middens of Casco Bay, which seeks to raise public awareness of shell middens and use middens to highlight the effects of climate change. Project director Thomas Bennett will discuss activities undertaken last year, including excavations of archaeological sites on Littlejohn and Little Chebeague islands, as well as plans for this year.

More recently, the library was also awarded Maine Sea Grant Program funding for The Casco Bay Shell Midden Project: Carbon Isotope Analysis, Midden Monitoring, and Public Outreach project, which will document climate-related change in Casco Bay as evidenced in samples of soft-shell clams from archaeological sites.
