Brookfield's 4th of July Parade

Despite a little rain, the parade was a success thanks to the unwavering support of our community! A huge shout out to Barbara, Sue, and Karen for lending their vehicles and to the Bartik family for their wagon, as well as generously donating 3 cases of water bottles. Special thanks to Roxann for adding a creative touch with custom labels and QR codes on the bottles.

The cheers of "allies" and the vibrant rainbow flags along the route filled our hearts with joy. The warm reception we received truly showcased the caring spirit of our community.

Post-parade, we savored delicious BBQ treats courtesy of Sue and delectable desserts from our community members. It was a day filled with love and laughter, and we can't wait to have you join us next year for an even bigger celebration!

SHARE FOOD, SHARE LOVE

FOOD PANTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Want to volunteer at Share Food Share Love, click here!

In a world where food insecurity is on the rise, we cannot afford to sit back and do nothing. The recent cuts to SNAP funding have only worsened the situation, leaving many families struggling to put food on the table. But fear not, for there is a beacon of hope - Share Food Share Love. This incredible organization is dedicated to helping those in need, and they need your support. With just 1.00, you can provide three meals to a family in need. Imagine the impact you can make with such a small donation! Your generosity is not just a drop in the bucket; it is a lifeline for those who are facing hunger every day. Join us in the fight against food insecurity by supporting the Share Food Share Love Food Pantry. Together, we can make a difference. Drop off your non-perishable food items at convenient locations like the outside box at Tischler's or drop off at the church and let's show our community that we stand together in solidarity. Thank you for being a hero in someone's story.

If you live in the surrounding area of Brookfield, you may qualify to be our neighbor at Share Food, Share Love. You can stop in on Tuesday evenings 7pm to 9 pm and Saturday mornings 10 am to 12 pm to apply and gather up some food for you and your family. If you do come, please try to bring your own reusable bags but if you forget, we will have bags for you. If you are not from this area but are in need of food, click on the link below and click on Find Food and put in your zip code. You will find a food pantry in your area.

Thank you!

PASTOR'S PICK CORNER -

Rev. Daniels Reading/

Listening/Watching Suggestions

magic_ribbons_book.jpg

I realize I am beginning to sound a bit repetitive, but I am once again recommending some history titles.

First of all, my brilliant niece, Justine Firnhaber-Baker, has published a new book. She is a professor of medieval history at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. This is her third book, the first two were academic (about peasant revolts in medieval France and such). This is a popular history (still meticulously researched), portraying the history of the Capetian dynasty that ruled France from 987 to 1328. They were the ones who first used the fleur-de-lys, or lily, as their symbol—it’s now a symbol of France as a whole. Justine puts the sometimes confusing history of this turbulent dynasty into highly readable prose, with humor and without jargon (and explains any terms the general public might not know). The Capetians, in many ways, made France what it is today—she shows us how that happened, and traces their influence through the centuries.
