What's Happening at Hearth?

Rise Up: Bonding Over Lunch Outreach Event

Earlier in July, Hearth celebrated the resilience and achievements of the Outreach program's clients. We sang, danced, shared stories, and enjoyed a wonderful lunch together. Special thanks to City Councilor Brian Worrell for joining us and supporting our mission of ending elder homelessness.

A Visit From the Tokyo University of Social Welfare

Hearth recently hosted a group of 50 students and professors from the Tokyo University of Social Welfare at our Olmsted Green Property. Here, students learned more about Hearth's services and how this can serve as a blueprint for other countries also seeing a rise in elder homelessness.

After the presentation, students instructed an origami workshop with residents, which was a very relaxing and educational experience for all.

Thank you to the Tokyo University of Social Welfare and Hearth Staff for making this day possible!

Summer Barbeques for Residents

Summer barbecues have truly become a beloved tradition at all Hearth sites, bringing together residents to connect and enjoy a meal together. The recent visit of one of Hearth's founders, Ellen Feingold, and CEO Rhonda Pieroni to the Four Corners location added an extra touch of joy to the festivities, creating unforgettable moments for all. A sincere thank you to Hearth's Vice Chair, Alveta Haynes, who was integral to this event by assisting with its organization and food preparation.

A special appreciation also goes out to the devoted Hearth Staff whose tireless dedication and efforts were instrumental in making this celebratory event a resounding success.

Getting Ready for Hearth's Annual Gala

The Hearth team is continuing to prepare for this year's Annual Gala. Keynote speaker, Gordon Wayne, is a young man who has walked hundreds of miles to end homelessness after experiencing it himself. He will be sharing his full story at our Gala on October 17th to inspire action in us all.

Staff can register for free until Friday, August 30th. To register, click here.

Hearth's Rooftop Garden Snapshot

On the fourth floor of Hearth's Anna Bissonnette House, the rooftop garden flourishes with tomatoes, dahlias, sunflowers and more. This resident-led garden is a testament to the growth that can be possible with supportive housing for older adults.
