This Sunday's Summer Mission Partner Support:
Mission Community Outreach Center
This summer we invited our local mission partners to update Hamblen about their current activities. They have been presenting a Minute for Mission, and we have been collecting funds for their ministries. Hamblen is grateful to partner with these organizations and encourages you to give and volunteer. We hope our funding will exceed last year’s. We’re excited to hear from the following partner for our final presentation this summer:

Mission Community Outreach Center provides clothing, housewares, hygiene, and diapers free at their storefront. They are open three days a week for their customers. Each August they provide a new pair of shoes and socks to kids from preschool through 8th grade. Hamblen volunteers work at the shoe event, provide outfits for Christmas Joy, sort and sell items at the Center, donate needed items, and have served on their Board of Directors. Our National Night Out Block Party Was a Success!
Thank you to everyone who helped make National Night Out a great success! Loving our neighbors by providing this experience free of charge is one way of living into our mission statement. We are grateful for volunteers who supplied chips and drinks to serve and for those who were able to come out and be part of the event. We served a hotdog dinner to around 350 people and got to visit with our mayor, the fire chief, Indians mascots Otto, Doris, and Ribby, and we even had a fly-by from the sheriff's helicopter! Kids of all ages had fun climbing on a fire engine, getting their faces painted, and playing on our new play structure and multiple bounce houses. Church members and friends brought classic cars to show and we were serenaded by Justin Sherfey and his band. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.
We got a thank you note yesterday from one of our neighbors:
To Hamblen Park Presbyterian Members--
Thank you for hosting such a lovely neighborhood event last evening. We look forward to being with our neighbors for the hot dogs, beverages, melon, chips, and dessert. The live music is very special and the representatives from the community always show up for this gathering (and we love the "car show")! Thank you for bringing us all together by hosting such a very special event.
Sincerely, Tom and Mary Brown
