Summer Book Study
Join us this summer as we read The Deepest Belonging: A Story About Discovering Where God Meets Us by Kara Root. In her book, Root weaves together stories from her life and ministry to explore some of the core questions of humanity and faith. We’ll meet for 5 consecutive Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the Skylight room starting July 17. Copies of the book will be available for purchase from the church office for $19, or you can order from your favorite online retailer.

Build-Your-Own Family Summer Kits
Families, we know how hectic summer gets—take a bit of Hamblen with you wherever you go this summer with our Summer Kits! They’re full of family games, sciences experiments, outdoor activities, and even a scavenger hunt for the whole family (including ice cream prizes!). Grab one from the Information Center in the church lobby.

Summer Service Partners Support
This summer we are inviting our local service partners to update Hamblen about their current activities. They will be presenting a Minute for Mission, and we will be collecting funds for their ministries. We’re excited to hear from the following partners:
| |
Bite2Go is a program sponsored by Second Harvest food bank. Hamblen specifically sponsors Hamblen Park Elementary School, providing nutritious, shelf-stable, kid-friendly food support for weekends. Many of these children would otherwise face chronic food shortages at home. Hamblen volunteers pick up food at Second Harvest and deliver it to the school. They also help put food packets together at Second Harvest.
Liberty Park Community Development Center share’s Christ’s love with their neighbors through education opportunities, community connections, and empowering relationships. They provide preschool education, youth after school and summer programs and parental support. Proclaim Liberty is currently constructing three new apartment buildings. Hamblen volunteers serve on their Board of Directors, organize drives and purchase clothing and toys, and assist in parent support projects.
Family Promise equips families with the resources needed to end homelessness. They address homelessness holistically, providing prevention services before families reach crisis, shelter and case management when they become homeless, and stabilization programs once they have secured housing to ensure they remain independent. Hamblen volunteers have served on their Board of Directors and used their skills in various programs and projects as needed. A group recently completed a yard clean-up project.
Mission Community Outreach Ctr
|
|
Mission Community Outreach Center provides clothing, housewares, hygiene, and diapers free at their storefront. They are open three days a week for their customers. Each August they provide a new pair of shoes and socks to kids from preschool through 8th grade. Hamblen volunteers work at the shoe event, provide outfits for Christmas Joy, sort and sell items at the Center, donate needed items and have served on their Board of Directors.
Hamblen is grateful to partner with these organizations and encourages you to give and volunteer. We hope our funding will exceed last year’s.
