THIS WEEK'S NEWS

Discussion on Christian Nationalism & U. S. Christianity

Begins THIS Sunday After the Worship Service

Christian Nationalism claims to hold biblically based beliefs. In reality, it distorts the gospel and misshapes the Christian witness. Join us as we discuss the origins and impact of Christian Nationalism with Gonzaga professor Dr. Kevin Van Der Schel. Optional electronic readings will be provided. Study held on Sundays at 10:30 AM in the Skylight Room, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, and 10/13.

Join the Hamblen Sunday Greeters!

Our committee enjoys greeting members and friends on Sunday morning! AND WE DO MORE! Check us out at our next Welcome Committee meeting this Tuesday, September 17, 6pm in room 6. Here’s a preview of our “other" activities: National Night Out Block Party; Preschool Parents Welcome Coffee hour; new member classes; Meet and Greet coffees for visitors. We look forward to expanding our Welcome Committee and would love for you to join the fun.

Would you like to be an Acolyte?

There will be an information and training session for students in 4rd-6th grade (and their parents) who would like to serve as an Acolyte. We will meet September 29, after the service, at the pews at the front of the sanctuary. If you have any questions, or are interested but can’t come that day, please contact Kathy Williams at 949-370-8025 or kathylwms@gmail.com.

Children’s Ministries Volunteer Opportunities

If you would like to help with Children’s Sunday School, mid-week evening program, or other events throughout the year, please contact Mitchel Pierce at mitchelp@hamblenpres.org to learn how you can get involved.

Office Staff Changes

Most of you know that our Communications Coordinator, Trina Limbaugh, has been working remotely from Indiana for the past year. We were sad to accept Trina's resignation a few weeks ago, and her final day will be tomorrow, Friday, September 13. Trina has been a joy to have on our staff, and we have appreciated the chance to work with her for the past four years. Her creativity, design skills, and incredible work ethic have brought a lot of value to our team. If you would like to send Trina a card, her address is PO Box 1314; Bedford, IN 47421.

We have made the decision to hire Jennifer Malcolm to work in the office. We are confident that Jen will be a good fit in the office, and we are looking forward to having her begin work next Wednesday. Her hours are still being set, but she will most likely be here all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Feel free to stop in and meet her when you are in the neighborhood!

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

New Volunteer Group Starting for Hamblen Park Preschool

If you are not familiar with the preschool here at HPPC, you can learn more about how Hamblen Park Preschool serves the Spokane community by visiting our website at www.hamblenpres.org/preschool. For those interested in getting involved with this ministry, a group of volunteers is being formed to help at the preschool. There will be opportunities to read to the children, help with special projects, reach out to parents, and support the teachers. If you have special talents to share or a heart for young children, you are just what we need! Time commitment is up to you. For more information, contact Janet Ray at (509) 993-2000.

Kids' Zone (3yrs - 1st Grade)

On Family Worship Sundays throughout the year and every Sunday during the summer, children 3yrs-1st grade are invited to the Skylight Room for fun activities. Kids 2nd grade and up remain in the worship service with their families.
