  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Rhythm & Rhyme for 0-3s in the Junior Room.


  • Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. Lunch Bunch! Bring your lunch, listen to stories and enjoy a fun craft. Individual craft kits will be available. All ages. This event is held in the Junior Room. Numbers are limited and registration is required. Please register on our events calendar.

A Medley of Landscapes by Monday Morning Group. Exhibit on display in the Gallery from March 1 to April 20. Featuring work by Karen Bahrenburg, Dorli Di Gregorio, Sue Lopardo, Xiang McFarland, Heather Scofield and Carla Shere.

One Book. One Town. Our Town! Beginning January 2024, there will be FREE copies of Our Town available for Kent Residents. We encourage everyone to read this play, and remind ourselves what makes small town life so special! Read the play to enter our raffle giveaway. You must come to the Library to get your raffle ticket. The community read will conclude with a special program on Sunday, March 24 with Sharon Playhouse at 3:00 p.m. Raffle will be drawn and the winner will receive tickets to Our Town on Broadway, opening fall 2024. Kids and teens will also have their own program and prizes to be won!



January & February: Teen & Tween Winter Reading Program. Read books and win prizes! Starting in January, reading logs will be available in the Library and online. You will get a raffle ticket for every 5 books that you read, by writing a short review (max. 250 words) of a book that reminds you of Kent, or by coming to a library program. Prizes include gift cards and a cozy raffle basket. Please call or email the Junior Room to register.

Sunday, February 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Family Skating Party at the Kent School Ice Rink! Join the KML’s Parents’ Committee for this Junior Room Fundraiser. Food, fun, and skating for all! Food and beverages will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the Junior Room of Kent Memorial Library! $2 per child, $4 per adult, $10 maximum per family. Helmets are required on the ice. Skates are no longer available to rent in Kent, please make other arrangements.

Saturday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m. The Oppenheimer Legacy: Nuclear Threats, Deterrence, and Arms Control in Today's World with John Lauder, in conversation with Sarah Chase. On the eve of the Oscar’s consideration of Oppenheimer the movie, the Kent Memorial Library, in association with the James A Garfield Center for Public Leadership of Hiram College, will host an event to discuss current nuclear challenges and future prospects with a leading expert on intelligence and arms control monitoring. How did we get to this point and is there an achievable way ahead? The discussion will be moderated by Kent-native and fellow Garfield scholar, Sarah A. Thursday, March 14 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Spring Book Discussion Series: Displacement. This Spring we will take up the theme of Displacement on an international scale. On the list for Spring are four twenty-first century novels that examine historical events from the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first century that echo across time. Although all the novels have been written since 2011, the events have deeper roots. The stories are unified as a geography of personal and national suffering and loss. This month's book is The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twan Eng The discussion is conducted by Betty Krasne, PhD., writer, professor emerita, and longtime Kent resident. Free and open to the public. Join House of Books, Sharon Playhouse and Kent Memorial Library for a special program to celebrate the Kent community’s reading of Our Town. Since January the folks of the Kent community were given a free copy of and read Our Town to enter our raffle giveaway. At 3:00 p.m. the raffle ticket will be drawn for a chance to win tickets to the Broadway show opening in fall 2024. Kids and teens will also have their own program and prizes to be won! Wednesday, March 27 at 1:30 p.m. Half-Day STEAM Activity: Slime Time! We will be exploring chemical reactions and bonds by making two types of slime—regular and fluffy—to customize and play with! Thursday, March 28 at 1:30 to 3:15 p.m. KCS Conference Day Movie Matinee. Join us for an afternoon viewing of Elemental (2023). It is an early dismissal for conferences, so we are turning the Junior Room into a movie theater for the afternoon! Parents who have KCS Parent/Teacher conferences may leave their children in the care of the Junior Room staff only with prior notification. You must register with the time of your conferences.
