Important Update from Staff Parish Relations Committee

The Staff Parish Relations Committee is sad to announce that Rev. Tommy Perkins, Associate Pastor for Congregational Care, will be leaving Perry UMC in June. Sunday in worship, Tommy shared that he will be going on Personal Leave status with the UMC. We are all sad to see Tommy go, and we will miss him dearly. Tommy has served our congregation well for these past seven years. His warm, kind heart and Christlike spirit have infused everything he did, and our church family is better because of his ministry here.

Additionally, Tommy will be going on sabbatical beginning

today. He will return on Tue, May 28. Tommy’s last official day at PUMC will be Wednesday, June 12. Obviously, we will want to celebrate Tommy and send him off well after he returns from sabbatical. But in the meantime, please keep Tommy and his family in your prayers. Please pray for his wife Caroline and their daughters Delia and Ronnie. Please also pray for Tommy’s siblings, Nick, Mary, and Sarah, as they prepare to sell their mother’s home in Tennessee.

While Tommy is away, Tom will be handling pastoral care

concerns. He can be reached at 912-677-8681 or at tcarruth3@gmail.com.

Grace and Peace,

Tom

UMC General Conference Begins Next Week

General Conference, the official legislative body of The United Methodist Church, will be meeting in Charlotte, NC, from April 23 through May 3. Please be praying for all the delegates, especially the members of our South Georgia Conference delegation. For helpful background information, visit www.sgaumc.org/gc2020. I hope every member of Perry UMC will take some time to watch the livestream

Whether you have already made up your mind about PUMC’s future denominational home or not, it is vital for us to be informed about the future of the UMC as we prepare to make our decision. I hope and pray the future UMC will be fruitful and do God’s will, and I hope you will join me in praying for that, especially over the coming weeks.

Grace and Peace,

Tom

Foster Care Appreciation Dinner

Tuesday, March 14, 2024

6 p.m. in the Family Life Center

On Tuesday, May 14, we will host an Appreciation Dinner for our Houston County Foster Families.

We will have a meal for all the parents in our Family Life Center, and have a separate meal and program for all the children in the Fellowship Hall and Youth Center. We will need lots of volunteers to help make this happen! Sign up here to volunteer! All volunteers must complete a background check to serve. If you have not done one with us, please click here.

May is Foster Care Appreciation Month so we are collecting $25 gift cards for gas, groceries, and restaurants to gift to the foster families. These gift cards can be dropped off in the church office.
