Media That Makes a Difference

Changemakers Alliance is spinoff of Minnesota Women's Press — supported by underwriters and members — to connect engaged feminists who care about finding solutions and taking action.

Hometown Values & Vision: Marshall

We met with 15 community members in Marshall to discuss challenges, needs, and solutions in this Southwestern Minnesota city.

Said one woman who works with at-risk youth, especially those impacted by sex trafficking, and people impacted by domestic violence: “I’m a lived-experience expert of being a child that was part of the criminal justice system and one who lived in poverty.

"I’m here because our communities are stronger when we all know we exist.”

"We have a tendency to box people into simple categories, but we should not be defined by limited labels. I am many things: nonprofit director, artist, organizer, therapist, auntie, sister, Hmong, queer, and survivor."

Hmong Culture

Girl Scouts Camp

"I learned about Hmong symbols and their meanings: the heart, the ram’s horn, the mountain, the snail, the elephant footprint, and the house. I used a few of the Hmong symbols and my own patterns on my Batik cloth."
