What does it take to be a Habitat Hero? Dedication, commitment, hard work, and a life of love in action. Greeley-Weld Habitat is deeply grateful for their very own Habitat Hero, Mark Scott, GWHFH Construction Director. Mark Scott has dedicated his life to Habitat for Humanity families and mission for 37 years.
Mark's lifetime of service to Habitat's mission and vision to build a world where everyone has a decent place to live is something he truly believes in, as he humbly says, "that Habitat's Mission is the right thing." Through Mark's long service to Habitat, he has literally impacted for good thousands of lives.
Mark first got involved with Habitat in 1986 when a woman in his church was accepted to the Habitat Homeownership program. He started volunteer work with Habitat by building her cabinets and wiring her home to help complete her Sweat Equity Hours.
After this initial experience, he came back as a volunteer and eventually was hired by the Habitat affiliate in Jackson, Mississippi. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he worked to rebuild hundreds of homes that were lost. Mark takes pride in being able to build alongside Habitat families for their forever homes.
