Ike has been a veteran mentor in Nooksack Valley school district programs for many years. When Be the One rolled out in Nooksack, he was among the first to transition into BTO as a mentor. Nate, was a high school student who struggled. The two were matched in Nate's Junior year. Ike’s professional background was a perfect match for helping Nate finish high school strong. He also encouraged Nate in preparing for life after high school and possible career options moving forward. This school year, Nate was named Student of the Month by a local service club. When we spoke with Nate, he was proud of his accomplishments and believed his mentor contributed to his improved outlook on life, his desire to do well in school and planning for life after graduation.
