Arizona youth and young adults are overdosing at an alarming rate from fentanyl and
counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl. New resources are now available to help make a difference in preventing fentanyl overdose deaths. 

MATFORCE partnered with over 30 different prevention coalitions to create a toolkit of resources to address the fentanyl problem in our communities. Below is a list of resources available to community members and organizations to aid in preventing and reversing this deadly trend.
Educational Presentations

  • Community fentanyl presentation that educates on what fentanyl and opioids are, along with the scope of the problem in our community, and what can be done to stop it.
  • Parent and caregiver presentation that educates on where youth are buying counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl, including Snapchat and other social media apps.
  • Youth fentanyl presentation that educates on what fentanyl is, and provides an overview of teen deaths utilizing an Overdose Fatality Review Board scenario to engage youth in discovering the harms of fentanyl by investigating actual overdose encounters.
  • Community naloxone presentation that educates on the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone, how to identify an overdose, and how to administer naloxone.
Fact Sheets and Other Resources (Available in both English and Spanish)

  • Fact sheets on the harms of fentanyl focused on families, behavioral health providers, medical practitioners, older adults, schools, and young adults
  • Flyers with information for parents and guardians on how youth are accessing substances using their phones and social media apps.
  • Postcards for parents and guardians with tips and resources on how to talk to youth. 
  • Door hangers with tips and resources on how to talk to youth about substance use.
  • Posters with positive messaging around the use of naloxone as a life saving medication.
  • PSAs educating on counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl, and naloxone and the Good Samaritan Law that can be shared on social media.
