New EDLARJ Board members will be elected at the EDLARJ Assembly March 1-3, 2024. Learn more and nominate someone from your networks and ministries to join this church-wide leadership team.

The EDLARJ Board organizes white people in the ELCA to work for racial justice within the church and society. We do this in collaboration with the other ELCA ethnic associations and the ELCA director for racial justice in the office of the presiding bishop. EDLARJ was created by, and is part of, the ELCA.

EDLARJ Board members are European descent/white members of the ELCA. They have skills and experience working against racism and for racial justice in accountable relationships with Black, Indigenous, and peoples of colors/cultures. They are passionate about collective action and committed to personal, internal anti-racist work.

Have you thought of a possible nominee already? Good!

The EDLARJ Board meets monthly via Zoom for about 90 minutes. Each member also serves on one subcommittee/working group. We attend an annual, three-day, in-person Board retreat and training session. Every three years we organize and host the church-wide EDLARJ Assembly. Sometimes individual Board members represent EDLARJ at the Churchwide Council meetings, other ELCA events, and at events hosted by the other ethic associations. This all takes about 5-10 hours per month of each Board member's time.

This link has our current Board members. We are lay and rostered leaders, youth ministers and mission developers. Some of us serve on our synod's racial justice team. We are in rural communities, suburbs, and large cities.

Our outgoing Board President Shari Seifert and Vice President, Kelly France, are coordinating the nominations process. Please email them at EDLA4RJ@gmail.com and suggest nominees by filling out this Google form. They will follow up with you and the people you suggest.

The Center of Addiction & Faith is presenting a one-hour free webinar titled Addiction & Uncovery on Nov. 29, 2023 from 12 noon -1:00 pm CT. We are pleased to be joined by George A. Wood (author, speaker, Pastor at Sober Truth Project) for a discussion surrounding his brand new book, The Uncovery Devotional: Rethinking Recovery One Day at a Time, co-authored by Brit Eaton.  All of us are recovering from something. Whether it's an addiction, a painful incident from our past, or a daily challenge just to get by in this world, something is holding us back from the life God wants for us. Real recovery isn't a one-time event or a process that fits into twelve steps or a preset length of time. Uncovering how to live free of what holds you back is a lifelong journey and one best traveled with others.

Honoring Mary

Zoom Discussion for Advent

Monday, December 4

 from 6:30-8:00 PST

Martin Luther loved Mary, but she doesn't get much air time in the church. We love her, too, but maybe we don't talk about her much because we don't want to appear as though we worship her or allow her to take the place of Jesus.

Peasant girl, mother of our Lord, radical revolutionary, archetypal image of the Divine Feminine, Queen of Heaven, God-bearer (Theotokos) who shows us how to bear God... She is all of this and more. How do you see Mary? What about her means the most to you?

Join Bishop Dave Nagler and Pastor Stephanie Lape for a conversation about this amazing person and spiritual ancestor. Enter Advent refreshed, challenged, and reminded of Mary's earthy and holy wisdom.

This is open to all and there's no cost to attend.

If you have questions about or need to change your registration, please email Terri Robertson at terrirobertson@pacificasynod.org.
