July 2022 • Helping Neighbors in Need in Sandy Springs & Dunwoody Since 1987
“Inflation is as violent as a mugger, as frightening as an armed robber, and as deadly as a hit man."
- Ronald Reagan
Do you feel liked you have been mugged? I do. Inflation is hitting from every side. Grocery bills are increasing by 10-25%; rent has increased by hundreds of dollars a month; and gas is still hovering around $4 a gallon. We are seeing more and more clients who feel like inflation has a contract out on their economic life.

A single mom that has the same full-time job she did last year, lives in the same apartment, whose kids go to the same school, who drives the same car, and who shops at the same grocery store can no longer stretch her dollars to meet the family’s needs. If her car breaks down, she will not be able to pay rent next month. All costs are up, and all margin is gone; inflation has come to pick a fight.

Our neighbors in need are being mugged by these economic changes, and have turned to CAC for help. We supplement their income with groceries from our mini-markets, or clothing from Upscale Thrift. We help look for a higher-paying job or find skills development opportunities. We're in their corner, helping and supporting them.

If you've got the fighting spirit and want to help your neighbors, email, call, or stop by. Our neighbors are being mugged by inflation; let's fight back together.

Francis K. Horton III, CEO
Hanging on by a thread
Some of our neighbors are hanging on by a thread - a thread that continues stretching and thinning as inflation rises and costs increase. Help us weave our threads into a lifeline and pull our neighbors out of a dire situation.

From May to June: food need up 23%
In May, CAC distributed over 49,500 pounds of food - but in June, we handed out over 60,800 pounds! This year, CAC has helped our neighbors by providing 289,100 pounds of supplemental food. This month, we had over 1,250 visits from families and individuals.
Not only does our food pantry put food on the tables of those that need it the most, it also frees up room in their budget to pay for other necessities (i.e. toiletries, diapers, the phone bill).

CAC has connections that allow us to buy food in bulk for discounts or at-cost. Food donations AND monetary donations are key to helping our neighbors!
