It's 2023...And We're off to a HUGE Start!

Camp Westmoreland hosted the Greater Alabama Council for the Council's 25th 'Silver Anniversary' that last weekend of this past February. Nearly 500 campers including scouts, adult volunteers, and professionals gathered to pitch camp across Camp Westmoreland. The weekend included horseback riding, shooting sports, outdoors skills, a host of historical presentations and education programs, a campfire program at our amphitheater with standing room only, and the list goes on and on! Special thanks to all the adult leaders and volunteers from around the District that made this event possible!

Doing Big Things!

Six fine scouters received recognitions at our District Awards Banquet in March. Our man of the hour, Cubmaster Nick Michael from Pack 285, was the recipient of the District Award of Merit. His Assistant Cubmaster Joshua Miles had the honor of introducing him, "I have the pleasure of introducing the District's newest Award of Merit recipient, Mr. Nick Michael. He has been my 'partner in crime' for all things dealing with Cub Scouts for several years now. We've put in countless miles on our feet and in our trucks, with many more to go. He's definitely earned this!" Mr. Miles said. Cubmaster Nick has a long list of ways he has served the district and his pack. He's usually found at District and Council-wide events around the BB Gun and Archery Range teaching scouts the importance of safety and instilling in them the values of Scouting through the crafts of marksmanship.
