Landscaping News

If you've been to church recently, you've likely noticed the cleaned-up landscaping and new layer of mulch around the plaza in front of the sanctuary. This work was carried out by a professional landscaper hired by Session. If you'd like to help pay for this unbudgeted cost, please make a check out to CHPC with "Landscaping" on the memo line. Your generosity is appreciated. Any excess funds received will be used for additional landscaping work later in the year.

Also, thanks to Marsha Berry, Chris Bischoff, Stewart Bridgman Jr., Soni Castleberry, Ben Langley, Patti Marcum, and Don Mead who worked to clean up other parts of the church's grounds.

Lights! Camera! Action!

Can you believe it? Is that our church on the big screen? Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church has been the backdrop the last few days for an independent Louisville-based film company cinematic production. Crescent Hill has always been one of the most predominant churches in our presbytery to foster the arts and support local small business. After much discussion, Session voted electronically to rent our facilities for this project, whose theme is hope and compassion. Let us thank our session for their prayerful wisdom and leadership.

Food for Thought Gathering About the Middle East

On Sunday, April 14, Tricia and Phil Lloyd-Sidle will share their transformational experiences from being in Palestine and Israel in February. They will do a Minute for Mission in our 11 a.m. service and talk from their hearts more specifically during a gathering in Henry Young Fellowship Hall right after worship. Light refreshments will be provided. Folks from other congregations are encouraged to attend their presentation.

Tricia and Phil were part of a 35-member mostly PC (U.S.A.) delegation that responded to a call from Christian partners in the Middle East to bear witness and express solidarity with all who are suffering during this time of unprecedented violence. Since their return, Tricia and Phil, have been speaking to other congregations, elected officials, and activists. Their messages are not only about grieving over the thousands who have been killed or starved to death, but the actions that are needed to lift up and pray for all those Palestinians and Israelis who engage in nonviolent actions to bring food, supplies, and justice to those in the region, stop further bloodshed, and return Palestinian prisoners and Israeli hostages.
