Dear Beloved of God,

Thank you to our Deacons and everyone who helped with the service and reception for Mary Love’s memorial. It was a strong witness to how much Mary meant to this congregation and to how we can come together to care for one another.

Prior to the memorial service, your session had its stated meeting for May. The following motions were approved:

  • Minutes for the stated meeting on April 13 and the congregational meeting on May 1.
  • To provide special opportunities for individuals to donate to the Guns to Gardens event being held on June 18 at Grace Hope Presbyterian Church. Look for more information about this event in coming newsletters and announcements.
  • To take $7,000 from the Woosley-Leake income account to put into the Woosley Scholarship Fund to bring the principle to $50,000.
  • Enthusiastically to name Lucy Steilberg as liaison for Tom McNinch as he applies for ordination. He has accepted a position at Christian Theological Seminary to which he hopes to be ordained.

Other items discussed at the meeting were a Pentecost Party and recognition of graduates and teachers on June 5, and the possibility of applying for a presbytery grant to install an electric car charger on church property. We also spent some time reflecting on the May 1 congregational gathering and the May 8 sermon.

We had a good response to our request for favorite hymns, so much so that we are beginning the sermon series this coming Sunday. Thank you for sharing your favorite hymns and stories.

Communion Preparation

We need some folks to help prepare communion. It's easy and will provide a valuable service to our worship. You would need to arrive at church by 10:15 am and stay afterwards for a quick clean up. Please contact our Music Director David Paul Gibson at if this is something you can do. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.

Zoom Sunday School for Children

This Sunday is the last day of Zoom Sunday school for children before we take a break for the summer. This is the last chance to be amazed, entertained, and befuddled by our favorite friend Sid! Children of all ages are invited to join us on Sunday from 9:45–10:15 for songs, Bible stories, prayers, crafts, and more.

Please contact Eva Stimson or Jerry Van Marter to receive a Zoom invitation.

Hope Buss and The Hope Village update

The Hope Village is open and people are coming. As most of you know Stachelle Bussey has been selected to operate the Hope Village, a site for housing and caring for those people in our community that currently find themselves without a place to call home. They take donations on Thursdays 10:00-12:00 and 2:00-4:00.

If you have an interest in volunteering or donating, send an email to

Calling all 2022 Grads!

Is there a graduate in the house? Does your family have a graduate from high school, trade or technical school, college, or grad school this year? The Nurture Committee believes we have five within the congregation, but we want to be sure we are right.

Let us celebrate with you! Graduates will be recognized at the June 5 worship service. Please contact Faith Grady in the church office at with the graduate’s name, graduation date, school, and future plans if they know yet.
