Dear Beloved of God,
Thank you to our Deacons and everyone who helped with the service and reception for Mary Love’s memorial. It was a strong witness to how much Mary meant to this congregation and to how we can come together to care for one another.
Prior to the memorial service, your session had its stated meeting for May. The following motions were approved:
- Minutes for the stated meeting on April 13 and the congregational meeting on May 1.
- To provide special opportunities for individuals to donate to the Guns to Gardens event being held on June 18 at Grace Hope Presbyterian Church. Look for more information about this event in coming newsletters and announcements.
- To take $7,000 from the Woosley-Leake income account to put into the Woosley Scholarship Fund to bring the principle to $50,000.
- Enthusiastically to name Lucy Steilberg as liaison for Tom McNinch as he applies for ordination. He has accepted a position at Christian Theological Seminary to which he hopes to be ordained.
Other items discussed at the meeting were a Pentecost Party and recognition of graduates and teachers on June 5, and the possibility of applying for a presbytery grant to install an electric car charger on church property. We also spent some time reflecting on the May 1 congregational gathering and the May 8 sermon.
We had a good response to our request for favorite hymns, so much so that we are beginning the sermon series this coming Sunday. Thank you for sharing your favorite hymns and stories.
Peace,
Peggy
