Camp Preparations
The Camping Services team takes a field trip
Members of our Camping Services team are on the go...looking for ways to make this summer even better than last. Recently we were invited to Camp Woodstock in Connecticut. Woodstock's Executive Director, Tony Gronski (second from left) took us on agrand tour. We were treated to lunch with the Woodstock leadership team and even found time for a photo by their "Green Monster".

Looking forward to a fun summer!
We are getting ready and hiring a lot of returning staff! We are looking forward to seeing some Polliwog Alumni and some new campers. This summer we will be taking swimming lessons and having a blast swimming in the pool with our counselors at free swim. We will be running outside on the field and climbing on the playground. We will be exploring arts and crafts and science activities such as painting, play dough, moon sand and much more. We are also looking forward to our fun family nights where we will have a pot luck dinner and sing songs we have learned throughout the session.

Camp Pikati Counselor Spotlight: Coach James Spinner
| Hello, my name is James Spinner and I am extremely excited to work for Camp Pikati as the specialty week's sports coach. I grew up in Massachusetts and lived in Newton for the past 20+ years. I coach a 6th grade AAU basketball team and I have also been training kids in basketball for 2 years at the YMCA. I have worked at a numerous sport camps, as well as running my own performance training clinics. I am huge sports lover and love teaching the sports to kids that want to learn more. I can't wait for Summer 2015! |

| What's New this summer at CFAD?
This year we are proud to announce new and improved elements to the Camp Day experience - nature trials, ping-pong, arts and crafts, drama, athletics and special programing - to name a few, have been revitalized for this upcoming season. If you'd like to see some of what we've been up to, join us on June 7th for an Open House to tour camp and enjoy the beauty of our 52 acres on the shores we call home. In an effort to keep our program viable and of the highest quality some changes will be made in activity, laundry and canteen options:
- Waterskiing will be available at camp for an addition $150/week or $250/2 weeks. The program will ensure that your child receives more time on the water with individual attention with the opportunity to ski everyday.
- Laundry service will be offered every two weeks or as needed, unless there is an individual circumstance that requires additional attention.
- Canteen will no be offered for $10 per week. Campers will be able to grab a pre-meal snack. We are supplementing the change in canteen with yummy sheet cakes at the end of our meals to help ease the sweet-tooth in all of us. Additional money may be added if your child would like to purchase additional refreshments or merchandise like our new sweatshirts. We recommend $50/week.

The Chicken in the Library
A librarian is working away at her desk when she notices that a chicken has come into the library and is patiently waiting in front of the desk. When the chicken sees that it has the librarian's attention, it squawks, "Book, book, book, BOOK!" The librarian complies, putting a couple of books down in front of the chicken. The chicken quickly grabs them and disappears. The next day, the librarian is again disturbed by the same chicken, who puts the previous day's pile of books down on the desk and again squawks, "Book, book, book, BOOK!" The librarian shakes her head, wondering what the chicken is doing with these books, but eventually finds some more books for the chicken. The next day, the librarian is once again disturbed by the chicken, who squawks (in a rather irritated fashion, it seems), "Book, book, book, BOOK!" By now, the librarian's curiosity has gotten the better of her, so she follows the bird through the parking lot, down the street for several blocks, and finally into a large park. The chicken disappears into a small grove of trees. On the other side of the trees is a small marsh. The librarian, now really curious, hurries over and sees that there is a small frog next to the chicken, examining each book, one at a time. The librarian comes within earshot just in time to hear the frog saying, "Read it, read it, read it..."
