Welltech Ventures has partnered together with WHIT, the Wellness Home built on Innovation and Technology, to host a Wellness and Health Innovation Competition, that aims to showcase innovative wellness and health solutions and fosters entrepreneurship in our industry.

Created by the Lake Nona Institute, along with its collaborative partners, WHIT is a first-of-its-kind home designed to activate health solutions and technologies and research their ability to measurably improve health and wellbeing. We are partnering together and will be scouring the world for novel technologies/products that address some of the biggest challenges in wellness and answer the question: what is a healthy home.

Modern consumers care deeply about wellness. A recent report from McKinsey & Co. showed

continued growth of consumer interest in health and wellness globally, with a market of more

than $1.5 trillion¹ and annual growth of 5 to 10 percent. On November 13th, 2023 a demo day will take place with an esteemed panel of judges that will evaluate the submissions and provide feedback. This competition seeks to identify and pursue those opportunities, so lets work together and find the solution to a healthy home! The winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize, as well as an installation at WHIT house.

What is smart home? A smart home refers to a convenient home setup where appliances and devices can be automatically controlled remotely from anywhere with an internet connection using a mobile or other networked device. Smart home features take many different shapes and sizes, but the question we are searching to answer, is what is a healthy home? A healthy home device, platform, or app can address problems such as limiting energy and water waste, sleep technology, or health monitoring systems. Our portfolio company, X-trodes, has created a wearable wireless technology measuring electrophysiological signals to understand sleep behavior anytime, anywhere. Additionally, Sency.ai allows individuals to utilize guided fitness at home. A few other examples of healthy home applications and devices include smart healthy fridges, medication smart dispensers, fitness, and relaxation at home. We are extremely excited to learn more about the innovations in this space, and look forward to answering the question of what a healthy home is in more depth!
