Answers for the 4A Epidemic

On Monday, October 31st I had  the pleasure of listening to Dr. Joseph A. Cannizzaro, MD author of The Answers for the 4A Epidemic Healing for Kids with Autism, ADHD, Asthma and Allergies thanks to The Juice Plus+ Company.  

I have  had the privilege to meet with Dr. Cannizzarro on several occasions where he is always kind, caring and connects easily with others. When observing him in conversations with concerned parents he is always, comforting and reassuring. When you're with him you know you are in good hands. 

Dr. Cannizzaro's book is an great resource and very helpful for parents of children with any or all of these conditions. Dr. Cannizzaro believes that these four conditions often go together, so if you or your child has one you are likely to have one or all of the other conditions.  You may not know this autism prevalence in our population is 1 in 68.

Ask your doctor

If you are ready to see a doctor for weight loss, you need to go to your appointment prepared. There are several critical weight loss questions you need to ask. You may want to talk to your doctor about weight loss medication, about the risks of different weight loss programs and about the benefits of losing weight. 

Your physician will be able to give you answers that take your personal health history into account.

Spice Up
You feel full of good intentions, prepare a heap of healthy steamed vegetables... and then watch your family pick at them. Is this scene familiar?  One of the best ways you can ensure everyone is eating enough fruits and veggies is to make them as flavorful as possible. And nothing fits the bill better than herbs and spices. Using the right combination of seasonings will take the food on your plate from good to great and encourage everyone to reach for second helpings!

Granny Was Right, We Do Need Our Beauty Sleep

The topic of the day for the Dr. Oz Show was SLEEP. Dr. Oz's suggestions are a good start however there are a few more things to consider. For one, my granny. When I was a little girl at bedtime my granny would send me off to bed she gently reminded me why sleep is so important. She would say "you need sleep to grow up to be a big girl, healthy, beautiful and strong." Granny directly implied if I did not get lots of sleep then there was no growing up for me and if I did,

New screen time rules for kids, by doctors

screen time rules
Previously the Academy set a general screen time limit: no more than two hours in front of the TV for kids over age 2. Today, in a world surrounded by digital media 24/7, defining screen time is difficult.

Pediatricians to tweak 'outdated' screen time rules  "It doesn't make sense to make a blanket statement [of two hours] of screen time anymore," said Dr. Yolanda Reid Chassiakos, lead author of the "Children and Adolescents and Digital Media Technical Report" and assistant professor at UCLA. "For some children, two hours may be too much."
