Alumni Spotlight: Tres Mansfield, '08

Before William Mansfield III (the third..."Tres") became a middle school counselor, he was just another Homestead student playing hacky sack in the hallway. Find out what Tres accomplished after high school, whether or not he still knows how to ollie on a skateboard, and discover what led him back to Mequon-Thiensville to become a valuable part of student social emotional learning at Lake Shore Middle School.
Remembering Bob Patton
Homestead High School teacher and computer science pioneer, Robert "Bob" Patton, passed away on February 19, 2020. Bob was hired to teach math at Homestead in 1962 and developed the Information and Technology Program for Homestead and the Mequon-Thiensville School District in 1972. He continued to provide consultant services after his retirement. In addition to being instrumental in bringing computer literacy to the district, Bob served as the district's first Computer Coordinator, coached football, refereed wrestling, and helped develop computer science programs in other schools across the state.

Homestead still offers a Bob Patton Outstanding Computer Achievement Award to students who exhibit exceptional talent in the computer field and must also demonstrate a consistent willingness to share his/her talents in support of our district and the wider community. The award is given only when there is a truly deserving candidate.
