The Amos-City Connection

Welcome to the Amos-City Connection

Friends,

Welcome to the Amos-City Connection! My name is Anthony Amos and I am running as an independent candidate for City Council in the City of Fairfax. This email serves as an introduction to myself, how to contact me, and what to expect moving forward. I have no intention of spamming you; rather, I will keep you apprised of events, volunteer opportunities, and news from around Fairfax that may be important to you. I look forward to meeting with every resident in the City of Fairfax and earning your vote properly this November.

So why engage and follow me? Why vote for me? What is the main driver for all of this? I boil it down to the local issues and the main philosophical reason.

Local

I am an advocate for financial literacy to be a staple of the city not seen elsewhere in Virginia. We have a unique opportunity to get ahead and work with our nonprofit partners to form an educational program for our older adults and graduating seniors. We do not need to wait on the state to get this done.

I am a supporter of the small business community, a thriving aspect of this city. I want to encourage their growth and expansion through innovation funds and permit reforms. Our Economic Development Authority does a great job and I want to help bolster their efforts further.

I am an environmental steward dedicated to preserving our open spaces and showing that government can be fun! Let’s encourage local leaders and our community members to go out together and discuss what we love and what could be improved.

Philosophical

I am a human being that has explored a lot of the world while my father served in the Army for 23 years. I have seen the train operations of Germany, the unsustainable economy of Hawaii, the unaffordability of homeownership and life in general skyrocket, and the detriment that political division plays in our daily life. In my conversations with different community members and organizations over the years, there is a consistent theme of political apathy and exhaustion.

It may sound simplistic, but I believe that the idea of checks and balances can be restored. That respect and discourse is paramount to our future. That the core foundation of good governance is community - it takes a village and I know this because I was raised by one. This is a journey that I hope to embark on together, hence the name of this newsletter.

My name is Anthony Amos and it is only through unity that we can bring the brighter future we know is possible to the forefront. We have work to do and let’s have some fun doing it.

Together for Fairfax!
