A Word from the President
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Hello and happy summer greetings! Boy the year has gone by fast. We have much to be grateful for as we reach the mid-point of 2023. First off, many thanks to the people in our office for their dedication and hard work. We have added 4 great new staff members this year together with 2 new interns bringing our total to 15 amazing architects and 6 administrative staff for a total of 21 employees.
Besides our great staff, we must also say thank you to our great clients for keeping us busy! Recently completed clubhouses in Palm Beach Gardens include one at Eastpointe, and one within the large new community of Avenir. A new clubhouse project is starting now with the Lost City Golf Club in Atlantis. An amazing amount of public-school work has come our way with our largest client, the School Board of Palm Beach County. Some historic preservation assignments throughout the state in Everglades City, DeSoto County, Palm Bay, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Gainesville, and Marianna. Residential work in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Bogota, Colombia. Affordable multi-family and single-family housing projects for Palm Beach County, Delray Beach Housing Authority, and the West Palm Beach Housing Authority. Lastly, several new assignments for the Trump Organization at Mar-a-Lago, Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, and Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter.
We participated in our first-ever career fairs earlier this year at my alma mater Catholic University of America in Washington DC, and Manuel's alma mater University of Miami. Next spring in 2024, we plan to add the University of Florida in Gainesville to our list of University career fairs to attend. On April 1st, the company passed a huge milestone as we celebrated 35 years of business headquartered in Downtown West Palm Beach! Also in April, we were again sponsors at the West Palm Beach State of the Market Forum held by the ULI. I hope you enjoy our newsletter and may the rest of the year bring you peace, happiness, and growth in these turbulent times we live in.

Projects Moving Through Design
Roseland Gardens, West Palm Beach
Flanking Southern Boulevard and in between Lake Ave and Georgia Ave, this new senior living community will replace the existing Southridge Senior Community. This phase of the development consists of 148 multi-family units equally arranged into two 4-story buildings approximately 64,000 SF each. The development will also include a 4,000 SF clubhouse building with a pool. This much needed senior housing for West Palm Beach's growing retirement community will be safe, secure, and affordable.
|
Design of a new 9,000 SF shell office & retail building in the new Westlake community for repeat client Don Stevenson. This building will occupy vacant space acting as a nice complement to the existing plaza.
| |
Tuttle Office Development, West Palm Beach
This new art deco project located just outside downtown West Palm Beach will serve as a live-work building for the client. The first floor will contain offices and garage space in the rear, the second floor contains an art gallery space, and an additional office, while the third floor is the livable area. Plenty of balcony space is provided on the east and west elevations.
|
DeSoto County Historic Court House, Arcadia
REG outperformed other firms to be awarded this historic project from DeSoto County. We have now begun to assist the client with preserving and restoring the exterior envelope of this historic court house. We utilized laser scanning services for a quick and accurate way to produce the as-builts for this project, which also contributed to this unique rendering.
Trump International 19th Hole Grille, West Palm Beach
A new grille is underway at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. This standalone building will be stationed in close proximity to the current clubhouse and contain a bar, full-sized kitchen, an outdoor pizza oven, and a wealth of indoor and outdoor seating.
Bank of Everglades, Everglades City
The adaptive reuse of the historic Bank of Everglades building will transform the vacant and rundown facility into a new community center. The first floor will be an open multi-purpose/event space with a reception area, restroom, storage, and the original bank vault. Our design will revamp the building to be wheelchair accessible by including a ramp at the rear entrance, and an elevator inside granting access to the second floor. The second floor will be comprised of a conference room, a classroom, a study room, an additional restroom, and a large outdoor patio.

In February for the first time in company history, REG participated in two career fairs to engage some of the young University students to come and work at a fun, growing South Florida architecture firm. We first headed out to Washington D.C. where we participated at the Catholic University of America's School of Architecture career fair, which happens to be Rick's alma mater. Later that month, we took the drive down south to Coral Gables where we visited Manuel's alma mater, University of Miami, to partake in their architecture career fair.
ULI's West Palm Beach Development & Investment Forum
In April, the Urban Land Institute hosted their annual West Palm Beach Development and Investment Forum. This year, REG became a contributing sponsor at the event. It was exciting to hear about all the past, current, and future development and growth all happening locally where we have been headquartered for 35 years. We hope to see you at next year's forum as well!
REG's 35th Anniversary Party
On March 31st, we celebrated our 35th anniversary as a company! REG was formed by a father and son architectural team, Ricardo Sr. and Rick Gonzalez, in 1988. Be sure to visit our website to view the entire gallery of photos taken during the event. Our home is downtown West Palm Beach, and we will strive to continue our presence here for many more years to come. Thank you to all of our employees, friends, family, consultants, clients, and the community for allowing us to collaborate and serve you over the decades!
4th of July Independence Day Cookout
To celebrate the independence of our great nation, our office hosted a classic American cookout luncheon featuring master chef Rick Gonzalez! Rick grilled up some delicious hotdogs and burgers for the office right outside our building as we chowed down in the conference room in classic American BBQ-style fashion.
Preservation on Main Street 2023 Conference
This year the Preservation on Main Street Conference was held in the historic city of Ocala. Time was spent learning about some of Florida's unique main streets, historic structures, cities, and building materials. At the end of the conference, the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation and Florida Main Street Association hosted their annual awards ceremony. We are pleased to inform you that REG brought home two awards! The Sunset Lounge project located in downtown West Palm Beach, and the Martin County Historic Court House located in downtown Stuart were both recipients of the restoration/rehabilitation outstanding achievement award.
