Dear Zach,

Welcome to Wake Forest!

Here in The Forest, you’ll create a home - one that feels uniquely suited to you and provides the freedom to be exactly who you are and explore who you want to be. Within The Forest, you’ll find a residential experience where you can thrive socially and intellectually alongside your peers.

Living on campus is where community is made. Here you belong.

From all of our staff to you, welcome to Wake!

From your first steps on campus, you’ll belong within one of our residential communities and the broader Wake Forest community. Our communities are a place for students to call their own; here, you’ll meet your peers, build relationships, and create memories.

Your First-Year Community will be…

To view your specific room assignment and roommate if applicable, please visit the Housing Portal at go.wfu.edu/housingportal.

Once there you'll want to select the Housing process and navigate through the pages to arrive at your First Year Assignment.

ABOUT YOUR COMMUNITY

South Hall opened in the Spring of 2010 and sits behind Babcock and Luter Residence Hall on the south end of campus. The crest of South Hall is a nod to the New Bern Lighthouse, a landmark in the North Carolina town near the site where the Wake Forest story began. Now, you're a part of that story too.

South Hall houses first-year students in a co-ed corridor-style layout. Additionally, the building features a formal parlor, a media room, a classroom, a kitchen and study rooms on each floor, and a sun deck.

Within your residential community, you’ll begin to know the many layers of support available to you. That support begins at home,

within your residential community!

Faculty Fellows

Strong student-faculty relationships are a cornerstone of the Wake Forest experience. Faculty Fellows are faculty members affiliated with each residence hall to foster engagement, to support and advise students, and to create experiences designed to connect residential communities.

You can find and learn more about your Faculty Fellows here.

Residence Life and Housing Staff

The Office of Residence Life and Housing partners with our students on their journey to create a home at Wake Forest University. Many of our staff live and work in community with you, serving as a hub for so many resources at the University.

Resident advisers are undergraduate student leaders responsible for building a sense of community, connecting students to each other, and the resources available to help them. You will learn more about - and likely hear from - your resident adviser (RA) closer to move-in.

Your Graduate Hall Director (GHD) and your Community Director (CD) work towards our goal of seamlessly integrating learning and development into each resident’s experience while fostering invested communities. Your GHD is a graduate student who assists in the oversight of your residential community, while your CD is a full-time master’s-level, live-in professional who leads their team (GHD and RAs) in curating an environment where students make their home - a home where living and learning are inseparable.

You can find and learn more about your community’s staff on the webpage for your community.

Be sure to keep an eye out for your Faculty Fellows, RAs, GHD, and CD, and say hello when you see them in community.

Our office has an outstanding team of professionals who work behind the scenes on supporting your journey to create a home here at Wake Forest. Learn more about us and find a full staff listing on our website.
