Education to Employment Brokerage Service Team Updates
|
|
Naumai, haere mai, whakatau mai!
We can hardly believe it! Tai Tokerau Trades Training on the 1 April 2021 celebrated our first year of operation!
Reflecting over the year, Tai Tokerau Trades Training has achieved so much in such a short amount of time, with our very first day of operation being the same first day of a nationwide pandemic lockdown. The small team of four worked remotely in preparation to deliver the Education to Employment Brokerage Service (EEB) through a time of uncertainty.
Once New Zealand transitioned into Level 2, the team set up the new office space and started developing school and industry relationships. From humble beginnings of working from home, the team expanded as Tai Tokerau Trades Training became the proud contract holders of the Whakaahu Whakamua Work Ready Programme.
|
|
Fast forward to now. Tai Tokerau Trades Training employs a team of 16 amazing kaimahi who work tirelessly to support our community with opportunities and experiences that assist in an effective transition to employment opportunities all over Te Tai Tokerau.
|
|
This month we bid farewell to our Project Administrator, Jayme Hawea, who starts her new role at ISO Limited.
Jayme has been an asset to the team. She brought with her high energy and determination in supporting the many roles and functions of the organisation. Inspired by the mahi we do, Jayme wanted to explore, develop and pursue her career pathway. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours, and you are always part of our mahi whanau.

2021 Youth in Health and Wellbeing Careers Events
|
|
Join us and explore careers in health and wellbeing!
With support from the Ministry of Education, Careerforce the Industry Training Organisation for the health and wellbeing sectors are running career exploration events for high school students. The health and wellbeing sector needs more young people in the workforce to combat the existing workforce shortages.
The health and wellbeing sectors offer many exciting and rewarding career opportunities for young people, who want to make both a career and a difference.
These sectors cover the likes of healthcare, social and community services, mental health, disability support, aged care, and youth work. Common across all the sectors is the increasingly challenging workforce shortages, and the need to attract younger people into their workforces.
We welcome high school students interested in:
- Pursuing a career within health and wellbeing, and earning as they’re learning.
- Helping people recover from illness or injury to living independent lives.
- Caring for the aged and vulnerable in the community.
- Providing quality service and patient care.
- Working with other young people to reach their full potential.

Brendon Alach, Managing Director of BMA Electrical, like us here at Tai Tokerau Trades Training is a huge supporter of encouraging young people's potential in the Trades Industry, more specifically his own Electrical.
Born and raised in Whangarei Northland, Brendon trained as an Electrical Apprentice at the age of 22 servicing his hometown. Not long after qualifying, Brendon gained an amazing opportunity to work as a supervisor in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi) working on a mega yacht and managing a team of employees for two years where he gained irreplaceable knowledge and experience to go hand in hand with his trade.
|
|
In 2014, Brendon started his business venture, BMA Electrical, which provides industrial, commercial, marine and domestic range of electrical solution services across Whangarei.
"I am passionate about filling our industry with a more diverse sample of Northlands population. My motivation for supporting Tools of The Trade Events is showing a genuine example of my industry to people who are considering undertaking the training", says Brendon.
Brendon Alach is one of our key tradesmen educating young people in the Tools of the Trade events. Brendon is eager to teach young people to build their tool kit of knowledge by supporting industry awareness events and opportunities.
A special thanks to Brendon Alach for his contribution in developing young people into industry opportunities. Tai Tokerau Trades Training look forward in connecting young people with key industry people in our region.
