GOTV 2024
June 1, 2024
Dear Scott County Democrats,
Christina Bohannan announced her candidacy for the U.S. Congress at the UFCW Hall in Davenport for a reason: because Scott County is the path to win back our District 1 Congressional seat and secure a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
We began canvassing for Christina and other local Dem candidates in April, and the program has been a huge success. Well over 100 Scott County Dems have knocked close to 3000 doors and spoken with nearly 300 Democrats who did not vote in 2022.
The GOTV team has been amazed at the enthusiasm and turnout of our canvass volunteers. Christina has let us know we are making a difference:
βThe work you are doing in Scott Co. is nothing short of amazing. People everywhere are saying that they have not seen
this kind of Democratic organizing and energy since
President Obama in 2012. This isnβt just a campaign, itβs a movement. This isnβt just about winning an election; itβs about changing history. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.β
Letβs keep moving forward!! This summer, we will be knocking doors of registered Dems and independents who vote regularly, but who do not yet know much about our candidates. This is a critically important group of voters for us to reach. Their numbers are much larger than the group we spoke with in the spring. Therefore, we need more volunteers to join the canvassing team!
If you have already been knocking doors, THANK YOU! Please invite a friend to come with you the next time you canvass. If you have not been able to canvass yet, now is the time! You will be trained, and new canvassers often go in pairs until they feel comfortable with the process.
We will knock doors on four dates in Juneβall from the UFCW Hall. Here are the dates and times with the sign-up links. Just click the link for the ones you can join and sign up!

If you have any questions, reach out to any member of the GOTV Team. We would love to talk with you! Working with volunteers to elect Democrats is our passion, so we will be glad to welcome you to the team!
From your GOTV Team,

Community Convo: Women's Reproductive Rights
We expect the Iowa Supreme Court to issue its decision on the constitutionality of the Iowa GOP abortion ban in the next few weeks. In light of last June's Dobbs v. Jackson ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, it is certainly more likely than ever that Iowa soon will deny women their bodily autonomy. In order to prepare for such a result, Iowa State Senator Cindy Winckler and Iowa State Representatives Ken Croken, Monica Kurth along with local women's health authority (Dr. Caroline Martin) and legal rights expert (Atty. Kelsey Marquard) are meeting to discuss what we might expect and where we go from here. Also, joining us will be a public policy spokesperson from Planned Parenthood. Please join us!
