Merritt Design Photo Newsletter
issue 01 | 11.10
Greetings!

Welcome! It is with great excitement that I invite you to enjoy the first issue of what I hope will be a relevant, beautiful and regular feature of Merritt Design Photo. If you are receiving this and we haven't already worked together, you have been included in this first mailing because I have noticed and admire YOUR work, and would love to explore collaboration possibilities!

Merritt Design Photos' expansion just over a year ago to include the Denver/Boulder market is growing in directions we could not have imagined from our former cozy location, nestled in the mountains of Telluride...

New publication opportunities (including features in the Robb Report, Mountain Living and Denver Life magazines), fabulous new clients and expanding subject matter are all part of this organic evolution.

I invite you to join us for the journey with the launch of this newsletter, through which I plan to announce special offers and updates; sneak previews of gorgeous architecture and design; photography and marketing tips; and invitations to upcoming events and classes.

Together we can rediscover, design and create mutually rewarding opportunities in this new social media and economic paradigm. Here's to the emerging of fruitful collaborations in the transition to 2011!

Cheers!
Jennifer

DenverArtMuseum For a former architectural designer / outdoor scenic photographer, the urban landscape provides an abundance of dynamic new material around which to design a whole new style of photographs. I am compelled by the diversity of Denver's urban design, variety of street-scapes and evolving public spaces.

Recent commissions include work with various Denver firms, including James Greenfield Architects, Kung Architecture,
and Kiewit Building Group; documenting events for Fentress Architects; and capturing delicious new restaurant interiors, including the brand new Pho-Natic and the recently remodeled Panzano at the Hotel Monaco!!
Architectural Photography | Residential
Ring Travel into the mountains continues to be an essential (and beloved) part of Merritt Design Photo's service, and this autumn season has been one of the busiest in years with several photo shoots of gorgeous contemporary architecture in Telluride and Aspen.

One Architects finished up several new projects which I had the privilege of photographing, including this impeccably detailed and creative adaptive re-use project in historic downtown Telluride.
wedding01 "The Architecture ... of Life"

Full disclosure: as an architect, I NEVER envisioned photographing weddings. But... I have discovered that being chosen to capture the intimacy and emotion of this once in a lifetime celebration to be a nearly overwhelming joy and unique privilege.

I absolutely ADORE the process of getting to know my wedding clients before their big day, and the extra effort has been paying off immeasurably in an ease of intimacy that leads to the most comfortable, emotional and joyful photographs.

Several lovely recent weddings will be added to the blog/website any day... in the meantime, feel free to peruse here.
culinary
When Chef Elise Wiggins asked me to shoot the recently remodeled Panzano restaurant interiors, I said, "Great!" but when she asked me to photograph food... let's just say after my hesitation, the conversation ended with her TELLING me I was doing the job!

After some frantic research on food photography (thanks to some incredible culinary photographers I have had the pleasure of meeting through Twitter), I decided to push the edges of my comfort zone, and I went for it.

Several culinary shoots later and I already can't wait for my next food assignment. Photographing beautifully prepared food is creative, artful and greatly satisfying (and one should never attempt it on an empty stomach)!
social media bar
"I have all of these great photos... now... WHAT do I do with them?"

Getting your work SEEN is the whole point of this investment, right? Merritt Design Photo has been hard at work building a solid social media following, studying what works in on-line portfolio design, search engine optimization, and developing a following in order to earn brand recognition in today's fast-changing on-line world.

We all know (or have at least heard) that name recognition and a solid on-line presence are perhaps more important than ever in driving clients to your site, getting your work in front of the right people, and increasing your odds at LANDING JOBS.
