Wed, Jan. 11 | 10:00 AM
Much of Excel’s power lies in the functions you can incorporate into formulas. But there’s a catch, computers do exactly what you say, so if you use a function incorrectly, you get the wrong answer.
This live, one-hour program will explain how functions work, how to discover the proper function for your formula, and how to use Excel features that help you build your functions with confidence that they will produce the correct result every time.
Demonstrations and explanation will cover:
- What Excel functions are and how they work in formulas;
- What functions can and can’t do;
- How to research functions to find the ones best suited to your needs;
- Benefits of using the Insert Function dialogue box to enter functions into formulas
- Key function concepts, including syntax, and optional and required arguments;
- What absolute cell references are, and when you want to use them;
- Using the IF and other logical functions to write formulas with conditional results;
- Working with VLOOKUP and other Lookup and Reference Functions;
- What Date and Time Functions can do; and
- Using Text functions to manipulate character strings.
There will be plenty of time for questions, so come prepared.
