I'm excited to welcome students, colleagues, and families back to one of the strongest school systems in America in just a few short days. Our amazing staff here at PSD has been hard at work preparing for another school year filled with rigorous classes, academic and extra curricular achievements, and opportunities for all students to graduate with options.

Whether this is you or your child's first year here or you're returning for another school year, welcome - you belong in PSD.

When school starts

Most PSD students will start school on Aug. 15. Students in grades 6 and 9 have a Transition Day at their middle or high school on Aug. 14. Preschool and kindergarten families - check with your child's school for staggered start information.

School-day start and dismissal times

Thirty PSD schools have a different start and dismissal time for school days this year. Visit the school start and dismissal times web page to confirm when the school day begins and ends at your school.

Using ParentVUE

Do you have questions about changing information on ParentVUE or double-checking your registration status? Please contact your school directly: the registrar there will be able to assist you with your request. Learn more about ParentVUE and StudentVUE at this lin k.>>

Literacy

In its first year with a new elementary literacy curriculum, PSD saw students in kindergarten through third grade grow their literacy knowledge by 22% - nearly triple the growth students typically experience from fall DIBELS testing compared to spring DIBELS testing. Graduate with Options

Two-thirds of PSD students earn free college credit at some point before graduating high school, and 13% of PSD high school students earned work-based learning credit last year. Learn more about career and college readiness opportunities in PSD on the Future Ready website.>>

Mental Health and Belonging

PSD has expanded its mental health support and awareness efforts, and the results are encouraging. Last year's Healthy Kids Colorado survey data showed marked improvement in the mental health of PSD students. Learn more on our mental health web page.>>

Start the year off right: attend a back-to-school event

Back-to-School Nights and related events are a great way for kids and families to get to know their school better. New provider for bus app, bus cards for riders

PSD has a new bus app provider this year! Zum - Student Transportation is replacing "Here Comes the Bus" as the app parents and guardians can download to track their child's bus. In addition, students will scan Zum bus cards when boarding and departing the bus. More information is coming soon to your email inbox. Visit the Transportation page to learn more.>>

School supply donations needed for 2024-25

Thousands of PSD families have benefited from the generosity of community members who donate school supplies. Power your day with school breakfast and lunch

This will be the second year all PSD students can use a finger scan to check out of school breakfast and lunch lines. View school menus at this link. PSD will also continue to serve meals free of charge to all students. However, families who are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals under federal income guidelines should still fill out a free/reduced meal application in order to qualify for discounts on utility bills, school and community activity fees, and more.
