The Women's and Gender Studies Program at Boston College is an interdisciplinary minor for undergraduate students that richly explores feminist and gender theories in relation to the political, cultural, and socioeconomic forces shaping our world. Through a global and transnational perspective, the program investigates the dynamic interplay between gender and other factors affecting our personal and communal identities, including race, class, culture, religion, sexuality, and location.

As an undergraduate student at Boston College, Katie double-majored in Psychology and Applied Psychology & Human Development and minored in Women's and Gender Studies. After graduating this past May, Katie is pursuing her master's degree in social work (MSW) at Washington University in St. Louis. A
s an MSW student, she will concentrate in Children, Youth, and Families with a specialization in policy.
She has
a lot of different interests related to social work such as
reproductive justice; violence against women and children; rape, sexual trafficking, trauma, abuse recovery; and disordered eating. Katie is
particularly interested in working with women and children directly and on the macro level to develop policies that better support women's issues and child welfare. As an intersectional feminist, she is also interested in working with
people from diverse racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds, as well as
people who identify as LGBTQ+.

Katherine was a Women's and Gender Studies minor while an undergraduate student at BC. While at school, she had many varied interests but was particularly focused on learning about history, museum studies, and gendered violence. After graduation, Katherine will participate in the Fulbright Program. She has a teaching assistantship in Austria with the Austrian-American Education Commission. Starting in October, she will help teach English and
American Studies at two high schools in Austria.
Katherine will supplement the teacher's lessons, provide information about American culture, and also help students practice their English in conversation.

Bridget Palmitier, BC '16
|
While a student at BC, Bridget was a WGS minor who was primarily interested in learning about women in business. After graduating in May, Bridget got a job at Morgan Stanley. Bridget is
currently studying for her licensing exams to become an official Financial Advisor in the Wealth Management Division at Morgan Stanley. While Bridget says it can be nerve-wracking to be in a field dominated by men, she believes it is
rewarding to be able to give women, who are rapidly rising as the heads of households in the U.S, an opportunity to speak about their finances to a woman. This opportunity has motivated her, and she is excited to be on the cusp of a dynamic shift in finance. Bridget is thankful for the women that have helped pave a path before her in the finance industry, and she hopes to do the same for future women interested in finance.
