The Library's reopening celebration went without a hitch on Saturday, September 16th. Thanks to our community for coming out and showing your support.
Barbara Kahn Horne led us in the National Anthem and the Washingtonville High School Band played "America the Beautiful" under a beautifully sunny sky.
After remarks by Dennis Barnett, the Moffat Board President, and a review of the history of the library with Trustee and Opening Celebration Chair, Jeanne Versweyveld, the Clan Moffat members who were in attendance were honored by Michaela Frisbee on bagpipes.
Winners of the Moffat Library Writing Contest for children and teens were presented with awards by Mary Ann Marrero, President of the Friends, and Moffat Youth Services Librarian, Emily Kinney.
Building architect Paul Mays, of Butler Rowland Mays, spoke about the place of the public library within the community. Rose Werkman, Orange County Poet Laureate Emeritus and a lifelong resident of the community, talked of the immense importance of a library to the community's children and youth.
Library Director, Carol McCrossen, cut the ribbon and the crowd slowly poured into the new building for their first sight of the inside of the building since Hurricane Irene flooded it over six years ago.
A complete photo-essay of the destruction brought on by Hurricane Irene, and the progression of the restoration of the building and the Grand Re-Opening are available to view by

We hope you all have a chance to visit the restored and expanded Moffat Library very soon!
