HAVING FUN IN THE SUN!

Here's some things that staff have been doing over the summer!

Mrs. DeWitt, School Social Worker, and her husband Adam,

took an adventurous backpacking trip out west to Wyoming!.

Choir teacher, Mrs. Giebler, would like to say:

"Greetings from Mestia, Georgia. Those are the Southern Caucuses in the background and I'm here on a Fulbright. I'll be returning the first week of August. There's lots of good food and lots of good singing and dancing here!"

Rebecca Brink, Marinette High School Instructional Coach, participated in a week of learning with Mathkind in Guatemala. Here is what she shared about her experience:

"Dr. Shelly Jones, author of Culturally Relevant Math Tasks, provided a shared learning experience for 12 Wisconsin math teachers and teachers at the School of Hope in Antigua Guatemala. I worked with Senorita Christy and her 8th and 9th grade students. We were able to plan and teach lessons together.

The experience reinforced the importance of building relationships with students, finding meaningful ways to connect content to community, and strengthened my empathy for our English Language Learners as my Spanish vocabulary is very limited.

Personally, I chose to go a week ahead of time to experience the culture and beauty of Guatemala. The experiences were vast and forever memorable from hiking Volcanos, to shopping Central America’s largest market, taking a chocolate making class, and so much more.

I am excited to return in the fall with the connections I built with educators across the state and in Guatemala!"

Matt Piechota, IT Department, has been busy doing Infrastructure upgrades ( upgrading Wireless Access Points and Network Switches ) and also getting the eSports computers ready.

And oh yeah, he went to see Trombone Shorty last week with his youngest daughter, since they are both Trombone players!

School Counselor, Mrs. Renne, is enjoying her first summer as a mom. Her baby boy, Miles, turned 6 months old and enjoyed his first trip to the DeYoung Zoo!

Science teacher, Mrs. Wagner, and her family are nothing but smiles enjoying the beautiful weather and time together.

Mr. Woodsy Dude ( a.k.a. Mr. Stuck, Art ) has been teaching survival skills to kids at local libraries.

Mrs. Anderson, Principal, is getting ready for the new year, and having family adventures! :)
