POLICE DEPARTMENT CRIME STATS

During 2022, the Wheatland Police Department’s Part 1 crime stats were significantly below the 5 year average and below crime stats in 2021. Part 1 crime stats are required to be reported monthly to the Department of Justice by all Law Enforcement agencies. “This is a reflection of the hard work of our police officers and the continued support of our community”, said Chief Sylvester.

PG&E CREWS PRUNING TREES

@PGE4Me PG&E contract tree crews will be pruning trees to keep them a safe distance from power lines throughout the City of Wheatland. Work starts in January and continues through March. This annual work keeps trees and power lines a safe distance apart which will help prevent power outages and fires. Customers with trees to be pruned near power lines will be notified with a PG&E door hanger with contact information for any questions. Daytime on-street parking may be restricted in some areas. This work will not interrupt power.

EAST WHEATLAND EXPRESSWAY (EWX)

COMMUNITY MEETING

A quicker, safer connection between Wheatland and Sheridan? Reduced congestion on SR 65? Another access point to Beale Air Force Base? The East Wheatland Expressway seeks to provide all this and more!

The South Yuba Transportation Improvement Authority (SYTIA) invites you to join us for a community workshop to learn about the East Wheatland Expressway Project. This project is a collaboration between SYTIA, Yuba County, the City of Wheatland, and Placer County to construct a new local road connecting Spenceville Road east of Wheatland to State Route (SR) 65 at Riosa Road just west of Sheridan. The Expressway would include an overcrossing of SR 65, the Union Pacific Railroad, and a bridge across Bear River.

IS YOUR ESCAPE PLAN READY

IN CASE OF A FIRE?

ESCAPE PLANS:

Because fire is a risk in every building — whether you sleep, study, or work there — you should always have an escape plan. You may need to escape within a few minutes of a fire’s start, so your safe exit depends on immediate warning from smoke alarms and advance planning of escape routes.

EPLAN BASICS:

Include two ways out of every room in all escape plans. Designate a location to meet outside the building. Verify that smoke alarms are installed to provide early detection and warning so you’ll have enough time to execute your escape plan. Make sure doors located in your path of travel can be opened from the inside under all lighting conditions. Verify that doors located in your path of travel DO NOT require a key to open from the inside. Conduct a roll call to verify everyone has escaped the building. Remain outside until notified by the fire department that is safe to re-enter the building, and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE YOUR PLAN!
