Opportunities for Service and Sharing

Focus on the Season:

Resurrection of Our Lord/Easter Day

March 31: Christ is risen! Jesus is alive, and God has swallowed up death forever. With Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, we may feel astonished and confused, unsure of what to make of the empty tomb. But this is why we gather: to proclaim, witness, praise, and affirm the liberating reality of Christ’s death and resurrection. In word and feast, we celebrate God’s unending love, and depart to share this good news with all the world. Alleluia!

Restroom Remodeling Project

Click the link below for detailed information about our current Restroom Remodeling Project. Printed copies of the document are located on the credenza in the Narthex.

Restroom Remodeling Project

Restroom Update and Building Room Arrangements

The East-end bathroom replumbing and remodeling is nearly complete and almost fully funded. (Yea!!) Before we move on to remodeling the West bathrooms the council thought it wise to consider some housecleaning and room usage at that far end of the building. We want to efficiently use all our room spaces for both member and appropriate community functions. While many churches are struggling we could take a bit of pride in taking this forward step.

  1. The two small rooms on either side of the East bathrooms have been designated as storage areas and will be reconfigured as necessary for neat and efficient storage.
  2. The janitorial service is pleased to have a dedicated janitor’s room with an appropriate wash sink in the secret room most people don’t even know exists behind the East bathrooms.
  3. The Medicaid Counseling Office at the far Northeast corner of the building is already nicely set up and currently in regular use.
  4. The small chapel vacated by our Anglican friends is ready for setup as needed for small devotion and community usage.
  5. Nedra Hollingsworth is anxious to move her yoga classes into the beautiful stained glass room just West of the small chapel. This will be a dedicated space for her classes and can be configured specifically for the yoga groups. Nedra is awaiting the relocation of all the items currently stored there into the new designated storage rooms.
  6. The old Anglican kitchen/meeting room will be divided in half with the already existing room divider. The half with the sink will be turned into a small but attractive kitchen/coffee/lunch area. It could be used for staff lunches, quilter coffee and snacks, and coffee prep for all the meeting rooms at the East end of the building. The other half will become a smaller meeting room.
  7. New signage is already in place identifying the function and location of the room spaces.
  8. In addition, you will begin to see some new activity in the gathering area leading to the main sanctuary as Amy, Tom, Pastor Sharon, and Lenore are working on plans to have it make a more welcoming first impression for visitors and friends.

Kevin and Rudy, as council members responsible for the property, will be coordinating the necessary adjustments. Obviously, this won’t happen overnight and will require help from the membership. But the end result should be improved functionality for member activities and a more positive image of our church for visitors who use our spaces.

As we work on additional funding for the West remodeling phase, feel free to browse and enjoy what is already happening.

Christ's Cupboard

HAPPY EASTER! As we gather with family and friends to enjoy our special day and meal, let's remember our neighbors are not as fortunate to eat ham and all of its trimmings. With your monetary assistance, I am about to have our pantry ready to move on to Samaritan Love Center. While I have no special sales to share this week, Christ's Cupboard still needs soaps, canned meats and toilet tissue.

Advantages of Online Giving

Have you considered the online giving option? Here are some of the advantages:

Advantages of Vanco Electronic Giving:

  1. No paper envelopes and checks to be processed.
  2. Giving is much more private.
  3. Minimizes Sunday morning counting and bank trips.
  4. Florida snowbirds don’t have to send physical checks in the mail.
  5. Credit/Debit cards are a second option to direct bank-to-bank transactions if desired.
  6. Specialized giving such as ‘Furnace Fund’ can be easily set up to avoid the hassle of separate checks or cash for miscellaneous giving.
  7. You have complete control of starting/stopping/changing as you wish.
  8. A history of your giving is directly available through the Vanco app without having to check with the Financial Secretary.
  9. Money is transferred to our church checking account in a matter of 1-2 days rather than a week or two after the fact.

If you are ready to make the change from paper, please speak with Jerre Fercho or Bob Howell. They will be happy to talk with you about the advantages and get you set up!

We thank everyone for what has been given to date and appreciate all efforts made to stay current.

Thank you!
