Governor Orders Clearing of Homeless Encampments

In the case of Grants Pass v. Johnson, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Grants Pass last month, deciding that an ordinance from the Oregon city that effectively banned homeless residents from camping on public property was constitutional. As a result of the ruling, Governor Newsom recently ordered the clearing of homeless encampments.


Addressing homelessness is a key issue for our industry given its impacts to the business community across the state. CBPA was proud to stand with the Pacific Legal Foundation and file a brief in this case. We applaud the Governor for his efforts to address this critical issue impacting our state.

Supply Chain Spotlight

Major players in U.S. supply chain seek new approach to shipping legislation

The newly formed Supply Chain Council was recently spotlighted by CNBC seeking a new approach to shipping related legislation. CBPA is pleased to partner with the Council and support their push for more domestic infrastructure investment to safeguard the supply chain.


Supply chain issues remain a key issue for CBPA and our industry, as a co-chair of the Goods Movement Alliance and now in partnership with the Supply Chain Council. Josh Wood, CEO of the Supply Chain Council joined the CBPA Board of Directors for a productive discussion on critical supply issues at our board meeting in May. We look forward to continued partnership to address our common interests.

CBPA Team @ BOMA Sacramento's Legislative Luncheon

The CBPA team was in full force at today's BOMA Sacramento quarterly luncheon, where CBPA President & CEO Matthew Hargrove presented a legislative update. Hargrove was joined by BOMA International's Vice President of Advocacy & Codes Don Davis for a federal update. CBPA board member Sarahann Shapiro was also present and had the opportunity to speak about her work as President of BOMA California.


Today served as an excellent opportunity to celebrate BOMA Sacramento's 40th anniversary, connect with their members, and inform attendees of critical issues impacting our industry. Thank you BOMA Sacramento for 40 years of continued excellence!
