Rabbi's Message

Blessings for shalom to you all. Shalom has been hard to come by for me this week, as I watch with growing dismay the growing antisemitism on so many campuses across the country. This Sunday evening we commemorate Yom HaShoah, and I cannot help feeling that our obligation to remember must now, more than ever, translate into an obligation to resist antisemitism wherever it raises its head.

There could not be a more important time to be together with your Jewish community than today. Fortunately, there is much planned for you!

  • Shabbat this week contains the special treat of Friday evening services at 6 PM featuring our school children, who will inspire you and give you hope for our future.
  • Saturday brings the comfort of our regular Shabbat schedule.
  • Sunday evening please join us at St. Ambrose University for our community Yom HaShoah observance.
  • Next Wednesday we come back together at Beit Shalom to encounter Israeli-American comedian Joel Chasnoff, who will speak with us about Israel today in stories both funny and serious. Please RSVP, as dessert will be served

I hope to see you often over the next week!

L’shalom,

Rabbi Linda
