Changes to Davis-Bacon: What We Do and Don't Know

By now, you may have heard that changes have been made to the regulations concerning the Davis-Bacon Act (DBA)—the prevailing wage law for direct federal and federal-aid

projects. First proposed by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Aug. 8, the new regulations took effect Oct. 23, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has published a new Form 1273. Contractors with direct federal and federal-aid projects are affected.

ARTBA’s Vice President & Counsel for Regulatory Affairs, Prianka Sharma, recently wrote about these changes. Read the article.

Minnesota Construction Industry Assessment Survey CLOSES TONIGHT

Thank you to everyone who has participated in this year's survey! Two things will happen at 11:59 this evening: the survey will close, and we'll stop reminding you to take it!

If you haven't yet had a moment to complete the survey, we'd love your 11th hour input! Having participation from all our members across construction sectors yields data that allows AGC to better represent the industry.

The link has been sent to our primary contacts at all member firms - contact Renee if you would like it re-sent.

Two Important Partner Surveys

Much like AGC of Minnesota's annual assessment, AGC of America uses the results of the annual Industry Hiring and Business Outlook survey to make the case with elected and appointed officials at the federal level in support of key member priorities.

The Minneapolis Federal Reserve's biannual survey provides real-time information to President Neel Kashkari for FOMC meetings (where the Fed decides interest rates and other monetary policy).

Gardner Builders Staff Training in Suicide Prevention

This week DEI Director Yolanda McIntosh delivered a VitalCog Suicide in Construction Gatekeeper Training session for Gardner Builders employees, including a Carpenter Supervisor, Laborer Supervisor, Estimator, Drywall Lead Supervisor, Service Superintendent, Project Managers, Safety Director, Employee Engagement, and Field Safety.

Participant feedback:

  • “Trainer was engaging and loved the personal connection she brought to the class.”
  • “[I learned] the Joiner model of suicide risk – the visual helped to think about it in a new way.”
  • “Yolanda is great!! Her storytelling really brings the training to life and humanizes it.”

As you can see, even within such a serious training topic there were moments of levity. Kudos to Gardner Builders for prioritizing suicide prevention awareness and training!
