Grab your gloves and join us on the lawn. We have a Gardening Ministry that will meet every first Saturday of the month from 9am-11am. Our next gardening day is September 7. Help us care for the earth. We will weed, cut, prune, fertilize, plant, mulch, and water, as well as share stories and gardening tips in good humor and fellowship. If you enjoy getting your fingernails and knees dirty, join the St. John's Gardening Ministry. Contact the parish office to sign up. Feel free to bring your favorite gardening tools!

We welcome the children and youth to the CYF Room after the opening acclamation and return during the peace. We're excited to be using the curriculum "The Big Way of Love for Kids", which comes from the Episcopal Church's "The Way of Love", a rule of life with seven spiritual practices that help us all to look, live, and love more like Jesus.

Guibord Center Presents - Take Heart Now: Spiritual Tools for Centering and Compassion

The Guibord Center's new online series, Take Heart Now: Spiritual Tools for Centering and Compassion, brings you inspirational and experiential presentations from notable leaders in our community. Each Monday, a new speaker will share concepts, stories, and centering tools that help ground you in spirituality and compassion. Each session will include a brief introduction, a 30- 35-minute presentation, including a centering experience, and about 10 minutes of questions based on discussion in the chat.

Field Trip to the Broad Museum

Meet up with other parish members at The Broad Museum on September 19 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Contact the Rev. Mel Soriano for more information. The Broad houses a nearly 2,000-piece collection of contemporary art featuring 200 artists. The Broad has $17 parking but is easily accessible by Metro (A/E line station Grand Ave Arts is just a block away).

Second Annual Shepherd's Cup

Monday, October 14


Calling all golfers! The second annual Shepherd’s Cup Golf Classic and Dinner will be held at the Industry Hills Golf Club and Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry. This year’s event will benefit campus ministries in the Diocese of Los Angeles, including Canterbury USC!

L.A. Reparation Advisory Committee is Seeking Comment


The L.A. city Reparations Advisory Committee – a blue-ribbon task force of local leaders in activism, academia, law and racial justice – will release findings of a year-long study titled “The Impact of the Black Experience in Los Angeles” on at Cal-State University, Northridge (CSUN).


This event will also serve as the kickoff for a two-week campaign to get the public's feedback on possible reparations through the City of Los Angeles.


The study, set to feature community testimony and perspectives on reparations, will be the basis of the commission’s final recommendations to city leaders.
