Interim Dean and Priest-In-Charge's Note

On the eve of a holiday weekend, as graduates bask in the glory of achievement, and families gather near and far, we hope to see you at St. John’s Cathedral on Sunday for a joyful service to give thanks to God for the blessings of life.

Memorial Day is the annual remembrance of the brave men and women who gave their lives in the service of our country. Let us forever give thanks and pray for their souls, as well as pray for their parents, families, children, and friends who grieve great loss. We pray for peace among all people in a world that remains at war while acknowledging that such freedom often comes with sacrifice. We give thanks to the members of our community who have served in the Armed Forces past and present. We pray for you and honor you always.

Earlier this week, Retired Bishop Steven Charleston offered a reflection which I share with you.

“When I get angry at the way the world is going, I try to turn that energy toward doing something about it. The more frustrated I feel, the more I search for ways to have an impact. At my time of life, it may not be as big of an impact as others can make, but it is a contribution. Every time we volunteer, donate, or show up: we change the balance of hope.”

May we be inspired to live our faith in ways that make a positive impact in this world. I give thanks to the good people of St. John's Cathedral who volunteer, donate, and show up, and for those wishing to contribute. Let us see the good in each other, and celebrate with joy.

Much love and blessings,

Anne+
