Holiday Decorating Safety Tips
from Officer RJ Faldowski
I’m sure everyone is getting their holiday decorations ready for this year. Here are a few safety tips to keep you and your family safe:

  1. Beware of broken bulbs - Missing or broken bulb can lead to shocks, fires, or cuts.
  2. Use the right ladder when hanging lights. Use wooden or fiberglass ladders to reduce the risk of shock.
  3. Use the right extension cords - never use indoor cords for outdoor use. They are not meant to be used in cold or wet areas.
  4. Prevent tripping hazards - using anchoring pins or ground staples to secure cords to the ground on either side of the walkway preventing tripping.
  5. Don’t make your lights a year round attraction - many holiday lights aren’t meant for long term use. Check the light’s box for information on just how long you can leave your lights up.

Financial Aid
Spring 2022 Financial Aid Reminders – things to remember as you register for your Spring courses!
Financial Aid can only be used for courses required towards completion of your current degree. If you register for courses not needed for your degree, you will not be eligible for federal or state financial aid (this includes federal student loans).

-          If you are a student loan borrower, you will need to complete a new loan application for Spring 2022. The loan application can be found here

-          If you are a student required to complete a 150% Academic Plan, you must follow the classes listed on your most recently approved plan. If you withdrew from or failed any Fall 2021 courses or you register in courses that differ from those listed on your Spring 2022 plan, you will need to complete a new plan. That form can be found here.

-          If you are already registered, the last day to have financial aid forms turned in or make payments for Spring 2022 courses is December 7. If you register for classes after December 7, you will need to have your forms completed or payment made by January 5. Please check your N.O.W. account through your student portal to access any missing financial aid paperwork.

-          Remember to check your WVNCC e-mail periodically over the holiday break. Additional forms may be needed once Fall 2021 grades are reported. If you need additional forms, the financial aid office will notify you via your WVNCC e-mail. If additional forms are required, but sure to return them to us by January 5!
