CBPA Continues Opposition to AB 1218 as it’s Referred to Housing Committee

Assembly Bill 1218 (Lowenthal; D-Long Beach) would expand a current law written specifically to apply to residential projects, without thinking through how non-residential projects are different. In turn, the bill would stop many important industrial projects, and have a negative impact on goods movement, jobs, and economic development.

The bill was recently referred to the Senate Housing Committee. CBPA issued a letter of opposition to the bill and will continue to prioritize it due to the negative impacts it would have on the commercial real estate industry.

Governor's Infrastructure Streamlining Package Passes

Yesterday, the legislature approved Governor Gavin Newsom's package of bills designed to streamline infrastructure projects in California.

The series of bills aim to improve the permitting process for a variety of major projects, including bridges and railways, with an emphasis on clean energy and job creation. After much debate, the delta conveyance project was exempted from the approved package.

CBPA has urged lawmakers to support the governor's infrastructure package given the need to strengthen goods movement across the state and improve California's economic competitiveness.
