Dear Cornerstone Family,

Words cannot express the joy and privilege I have had serving you as Lead Pastor. I will leave here with many fond memories of God’s power and presence in our midst. From the movie theater days to this wonderful and beautiful campus, I rejoice in what God did. Most of all it has been you, the backbone of Cornerstone, that have given me and my family the greatest joy. We will surely miss you. You have welcomed us into your community and treated us like family. You have held us up in prayer as we went through some of our hardest moments in our family history. You have encouraged us. You have loved us. We are so grateful and we praise God for you.

Departures are never easy, so we leave with mixed emotions. I just want to express my love and thanks to you. My time at Cornerstone has shaped me in many ways. We faced many challenges but we all saw God lead and provide all that we needed. I will always have wonderful memories from our experience here. I also want to thank the staff and leadership for their love and support. It has been a great joy to work alongside of them. You are in good hands. Cherish them, encourage them and pray for them.

As I leave, I would like to encourage you in your spiritual journey. I will continue to pray for you and for Cornerstone in the next season God has for you. I will be praying for your next pastor. The Lord has already prepared that person for you. God’s providence is far beyond our imagination. I pray that you will hold tightly to Christ, that the things of this world will have less attention from your heart. It is my prayer that you will strive to know more of God’s grace and mercy. May Christ become more and more precious to you. Love God, love people and serve this city and beyond.

May God richly bless you,

Sunday's Guest Preacher: Matt Stegenga

Cornerstone Member Matt Stegenga will be our guest preacher this Sunday, April 28th! He'll be preaching on various verses from Judges 7 with a sermon titled, "God's Got It!". You can read more about Matt below. We're excited to see you at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. online!

Matt grew up as an MK (missionary kid) in the rainforest of southern Mexico. He learned to speak three languages: Cho’l, English, and Spanish natively. He's spent over 30 years in marketing but is currently enjoying the low stress life as a local delivery semi-truck driver.

Prior to becoming part of Cornerstone, Matt and his wife, Kristin, had been members at Presbyterian Church of Stanley since 1998. Matt was ordained an elder and Kristin as a deacon. In his role as an elder, Matt was often enlisted to assist in leading worship which eventually led him to pursue a call to ministry and attend a number of years of seminary. While he has yet to complete his seminary education, Matt loves the Lord and serving the church as God calls and leads.

May Parents' Night Out

Our next Parents’ Night Out is coming up on Friday, May 3rd and we would love for you to serve with us! We host PNO to build bridges with our community. This event allows us to reach people we would otherwise never see. For some of the single parents that register, this event is one of the only times they get a break. For others, it provides them with a date night or just a night of rest. More importantly, this event allows kids and adults to see that churches are safe and fun, that they belong here and that we care about them.

Your one-on-one interactions with these kids provide love and care that they may not be receiving elsewhere. Pastor and author Tim Keller said this, “There are some needs only you can see. There are some hands only you can hold. There are some people only you can reach.”

We never know from which circumstances kids walk into our building. We need you because our kids need you! We would love for you to serve on our PNO team, and we can’t wait to see the relationships you develop with our community that have the power to create a life-changing impact. Use the buttons below to register your children or to sign up to serve!
