CBPA Partners with CA Commission on Disability Access to Support Certification Program

On Wednesday, the California Commission on Disability Access (CCDA) presented on the Certified Access Specialist (CASp) program, a certification through the Division of the State Architect. CASp is a program that CBPA helped create and supports as it reduces lawsuits from high-volume litigants.

In March, BOMA California Vice President and CBPA Board Member Sarahann Shapiro was appointed as CBPA's designated representative to the CCDA by Governor Gavin Newsom. The mission of the CCDA is to promote disability access through dialogue and collaboration with stakeholders including the disability and business communities as well as all levels of government. CBPA works closely with CCDA Executive Director April Dawson to help advance the interests of the organization in partnership with the commercial real estate industry.

Orange County Register Feature

In a recent Orange County Register feature, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association President Jon Coupal discusses the increasing challenges for businesses and residents of California, leading to population decline in recent years. The article cites a recent report from the California Center for Jobs and the Economy (the California Business Roundtable's foundation) revealing the financial loss to the state from population decline.

CBPA is a co-chair of the Taxpayer Protection Act along with Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and California Business Roundtable. The Act, on the ballot in November 2024, requires state legislation imposing any new or higher taxes to be approved by a majority of voters in a statewide election.
