Mary Magdalene Church

~Weekly Update~

Mary Magdalene Church is an inclusive church in the Catholic tradition where people from all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to the Lord’s table. We strive to live the values that Jesus taught, to honor and respect each individual and to share the joy of God’s unconditional love in our community and beyond.

Letchworth Middle Falls - April 9

~A Message from Reverend Lori~

Dear Denise,

Today, it is undeniably yucky outside. That makes it the perfect day to eat something warm and tasty at Benucci's at Pittsford Plaza while you also help support an amazing organization!  Today, April 17th (until 9PM), Benucci's at 3349 Monroe Avenue will donate 20% of the entire day's proceeds to support Family Promise of Greater Rochester (take-out included).

You probably remember that Family Promise used to be called RAIHN and that our church was one of the congregations that housed families experiencing homelessness. This organization now houses families, helps families avoid eviction, assists with rent and security deposits, and more! You can find out about the amazing work they do here, and really, their mission statement says it all.

"Family Promise of Greater Rochester (FPGROC, formerly RAIHN) assists families at risk of or experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence by providing person-centered, holistic services in collaboration with the greater community."

Keeping families together and helping families thrive...that is the work you support when you give to Family Promise - today and every day. Today, that support just comes with some deliciousness as well. Please consider supporting this vital fundraiser! And thank you for all you do to be God's love in the world.

All the love,

Rev. Lori

C.A.L.M.

Compassion and Listening Ministry

We are happy to share this new ministry coming to Mary Magdalene soon. Compassionate listening occurs when we listen from our soul into the soul of another. Thich Nhat Hahn describes it as “…the type of listening that can relieve suffering within a person.” If you have a heart filled with compassion; are interested in learning how to listen to your own internal voice; and desire to be a better listener to others, save the weekend of May 31, June 1 & 2 . More information will be shared soon. In the meantime, please pray for those hearts that will be touched by our new C.A.LM. ministry.

Things to do at MMC!

Board of Trustees Call for Nominations

The Board of Trustees at Mary Magdalene Church meets monthly. They assist in the running of the church, address budgetary issues, and support the community in many ways. The trustees routinely serve a three-year term, and they have the option of serving a total of two consecutive terms. Once a year, we advise the community of open positions and seek nominations from the community. This year we have three positions available: a treasurer and two standard trustee positions (all three year terms). Please consider serving in this vital capacity, and we especially welcome those members outside our local area to consider service on the board.

Eligibility requirements and more information can be found here. Or you can contact Betty Jerabeck, Chair of the Board, at eajerbeck@gmail.com. Nominations will be accepted through April 30th by using the nomination form here or those found on the tables at the entrances. You can nominate yourself or others. Please return your completed form to the box labeled Board of Trustee NOMINATIONS on the table at the rear entrance or submit them by email to Betty Jerabeck.
