ACROSS THE CHURCH

Caminar en la Luz

By: Charlette Preslar, Director of Formation

This year’s trip was a partnership between our diocese and the Anglican Diocese of Oxidente and included participants from San Diego, Tijuana, and Hermosillo, Mexico. The week included time for worship, cultural experiences, games, and so much more.

One of the highlights was the work they did side by side preparing Comunidad de Luz, a shelter for migrant women and children, to receive its first occupants. They spackled walls in dormitory rooms, sanded and prepared the stairwell for paint, and painted the dining hall and kitchen walls and ceiling. Some paint may also have ended up on all of us! Knowing Yourself: Ministry from a Place of Self-Awareness

September 28th, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

This new workshop premiered at Leadership Academy. Knowing Yourself is designed to equip individuals to better see their differences and divergences as strengths to be utilized in living into their unique calling as a part of the Body of Christ. Attendees will better understand their blind spots and name identities that no longer serve them while reclaiming aspects that are most authentic and beloved. Knowing Yourself utilizes the sociological concept of “social location” to expand the lens through which we see Christ in the world and each other.
