Atlanta Regional Conference Concluded

July 13-14, 2024

In collaboration with YMTA (Young Muslim Talent of America), ISNA hosted an inspiring

regional conference in Duluth, Ga. on July 13-14. Around 400 attendees and dozens of vendors

and sponsors made the venue buzz with excitement. The event's sponsors. Islamic Relief USA

and The Zakat Foundation added a touch of generosity and community spirit.

Session topics included Transformative Personal Change, Cultivating Love and Tranquility in

the Family, Empowerment through Education, Prioritizing Personal Health and Mental Well-

being, Being a Prophetic Voice: Mercy as a Tool for Uniting Communities, and Standing in

Solidarity with the Victims of Gaza and Palestine.

“Marriage is half of our Deen but what does that mean to us?”, asked Al Maghrib instructor,

Shaykh Saad Tasleem, in the session on Cultivating Love and Tranquility in the Family. “There

is so much more that needs to go into this relationship. A marriage that is established for the sake of Allah is a gift from Allah. Our Creator gifts this relationship with love, affection and mercy

and that needs to be maintained, that needs to be nurtured and that needs to grow,” he added.

A parallel session on Islamic Finance Halal Money Master: Empowering Your Wealth Ethically

included speakers such as Hud Williams (AMANA Mutual Fund) and attorney Bukhari R.

Nuriddin. Youth parallel sessions included topics about the foundations of faith, personal

transformation, dealing with doubts, and the power of dua.

In a session about education in the age of Artificial Intelligence, Nabile Safdar (division director

of Imaging Informatics) said that “It is a necessity for us to be dealing with the media and this

degree of information. There is a risk with new tools like AI, but it is about the decisions we

make as individuals about how we interact with these tools because they can be good and bad

depending on how we use them.”

The Community Service Recognition Award Ceremony concluded Saturday's evening with a

keynote address by Shaykh Saad Tasleem. Two notable community members received awards.

Philanthropist Raheem Shah has founded multiple organizations including Voices of Muslims

and Georgia Pakistan Council. His work, spanning several countries, has been recognized by the Georgia Senate. Zareenah Naushad is a high school honors graduate who excels in robotics and AI. She founded Autistry Studio by partnering with major universities. She completed Georgia Tech's computing research program, serves as a WIT ambassador, and interns at Innova Solutions.

As the event ended, a heartwarming concluding session honored the dedicated volunteers and

organizers who made it all possible. The young stars of the Children's Program received well- deserved awards for their outstanding accomplishments. On display during this session was a beautiful diorama created by the children showcasing the creativity and talent in our youth.

Miftaah-MYNA Seminary is Back!

We are excited to announce MYNA is collaborating with Miftaah Institute again this summer to bring you new courses that you won’t want to miss! This semester’s courses will be taught online by Shaykh Tariq Musleh and Imam Ali Hofioni.

Join us virtually every Monday for 7 weeks from July 8th - August 14th. Small class sizes, weekly sessions, and live online learning!

Here are the two classes offered:

Prophetic Description (Sham'ail)

Imam al-Tirmidhi's Al-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyya contains 414 Hadith that together present a detailed description of the moral, physical and spiritual qualities of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.This course is designed to give you the following:

  • Deep knowledge of the character, behavior, and personal qualities of Allah's Messenger ﷺ.
  • Understanding of why knowledge of the character of the Prophet ﷺ is central for all areas of the religion.
  • Enriched appreciation for the world and the worldview of the Companions رضي الله عنهم and the Early Generations of Muslims.
  • Renewed and strengthened love for Allah's Messenger ﷺ, knowledge of him, and desire to see him in this life and the next.

Quran Exegesis (Juz Amma)

Like Introduction to Hadith, this course allows students to try their hand at applying the grammatical concepts learnt in other courses to analyze and interpret Islamic primary sources. The course methodically guides students through the last Juz’ of the Qur’an and gives students experience translating the uniquely dynamic and engaging style of the Qur’an’s Arabic into English. Along with simple translation, students will learn to recognize and appreciate the thematic coherence between verses and chapters, the deeper meanings of Arabic words, grammatical nuances, the historical context of the revelation of various ayahs, and Qur’anic commentary based on Hadith and the authoritative interpretations of the recognized exegesis of the first generations of Islam. Students are also encouraged to develop and discuss personal reflections on the Qur'anic text and lessons for their contemporary times.

MYNA Summer Camp 2024 is Around the Corner!

Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often.” (Quran, 33:21) Adab, rooted in Islamic tradition, embodies the refined behavior, etiquette, and virtues exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is the highest standard each and every Muslim aspires to live up to, and it is that same standard that hundreds of campers across the nation will aim to study and embody at one of MYNA’s summer camps this July.

In a deep dive into the theme, “Adab in Action,” campers will explore how the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) serves as a beacon of guidance and inspiration, illuminating the path towards embodying Adab in thought, speech, and action. In a world characterized by diversity and complexity, the timeless principles of Adab offer a universal framework for navigating interpersonal relationships, fostering empathy, and promoting social harmony. By embodying the virtues of Adab, campers will empower themselves to become agents of positive change within their communities, inspiring others through their exemplary conduct and ethical leadership, and leaving a lasting legacy of excellence for generations to come.
