Because Lutherans love to prepare. The weeks at church before Easter are rife with Lenten studies, to-do lists, sign up sheets, giving opportunities, community outreach, and extra housekeeping of all sorts. Often the joy is less about the final product and more about the process, as seen here in Geraldine J's egg decorating class at the Senior Social Club this month. Kudos to all of the behind the scenes workers right now! Hippity, hoppity, Easter's on it's way! We are better together..

Please join us Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

In-person, online on YouTube, and on radio KWED AM 1580.

Sunday, April 9 beginning at 8:30 am

Women's Ministry Room

The Congregational Care Team is coordinating a Continental Breakfast for Easter morning. Stop by to enjoy the savory servings and to take a little break from all the festive activities. Sign-up sheets to bring food and volunteer to serve and to clean-up are in the Narthex.

Emanuel's will welcome Easter with beautiful lilies at our 10:30 worship service. You may donate Easter lilies as you rejoice the season, or in memory or honor of loved ones. Plants may be taken home following the service on Sunday, April 9. Return forms (available in the narthex, church office, and here) with payment by March 28. Each plant is $15.

Your donations support the Christian Cupboard and their work providing food and other basic need items to those living in Guadalupe County. Donations may be made in any amount, payable to Emanuel’s Lutheran Church with Christian Cupboard in memo line. Giving forms are available here and at the church. They are due by March 28 for acknowledgment in the Easter bulletin.

Shelf stable food (sugar or flour, canned beans of all kinds, dry beans, travel-size personal items, canned fruit, peanut butter, oatmeal, cereal, spaghetti sauce and pasta, vermicelli, canned soups, canned/pkg. tuna or chicken, Hamburger/Tuna Helper) may also be dropped off in the large bin at the pulpit.

From our inbox this week: "Our Quick Quilter Open House was a wonderful experience! A lot of people - men and women - came. Room overflowing!  We think that it spread goodwill and positive attitude toward the group and the cause.....and this morning two new participants ... came and will return." We've heard wonderful things about the event. In the photo above some of the quilters share their craft with members of the congregation. See more pictures here from the fabulous Sharon K.

Geraldine must be a great teacher because the egg decorators pictured below seem super pleased with their final product. Donna Simmons always has something fun planned at the 3rd Thursday Senior Social Club. Everyone outdid themselves with the salads this month. April promises a fajita lunch!

Palm Sunday will feature a beautiful procession of palms and singing, as it always does! This year, Pastor Marcus would like to add large branches to the procession, in addition to the small ones we traditionally carry. If you have access to or own trees that could be pruned close to April 2, please reach out to Pastor Marcus so that we can coordinate getting the palm branches to the church.
