Because Lutherans love Chapel on Wednesdays. What a joy to share the love of Christ through songs, smiles, bible stories, giggles, more songs, wiggles, and prayers with our Day School kids. "Dear God, thank you for loving us. Help us to be kind friends every day. In Jesus' name. Amen." We are better together.

EUCHARISITC MINISTRY TRAINING

Sundays, September 18 and 25

Family Life Center at 9am

If you have a desire to visit our homebound members, bring them updates from the church and news of our ministries, and celebrate Holy Communion with them, then this is the ministry for you. Training will include an overview of our ministry, the liturgy we use, how to engage in conversations and prayer, and how to best share information with our office. We will bless and commission our Eucharistic Ministers on Sunday, October 2 at the very beginning of the worship service. Please contact Pastor Marcus or Pastor John if you have any questions.

CALLING ALL YOUTH MUSICIANS!

Tom and Pastor Marcus are putting together a band, an orchestra, to lead worship on All Saints Sunday, November 6, and during one of our Christmas Eve services. If you play an instrument and would be willing to join us, please reach out to them! Arrangements are in the works and we are excited.

BEING THE CHURCH

For Whom: For all! This will be an afternoon for all of God's critters, the scaly ones, furry ones, feathery ones, hooved ones, or webbed footed ones, to be blessed and their families prayed for on the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi.

What to Bring: A chair, umbrella, leashes or other methods for keeping hold of your critters.

WELCOME DAY SCHOOL

BOARD MEMBERS

Emanuel's Lutheran Day School (ELDS) is a ministry of Emanuel's Lutheran Church, striving to develop well rounded students and provide families with a quality educational experience. Emanuel's Lutheran Church has been a leader in early childhood development for over 50 years. The doors to the first kindergarten in Seguin were opened at Emanuel's in 1949 and our dedication to the community continues.

The Emanuel's Lutheran Day School Board of Directors is endowed with the following responsibilities: to organize, operate, and maintain the Day School by providing Christian education, care, growth, shelter, and learning, as well as oversee all matters of policy, budgets, expenditures of funds, and staff.

There are seven members appointed by the Congregation Council, upon recommendation of the Board. They are a combination of parents of ELDS students, church members, and day school staff. Board members serve for 3 years and are able to serve to consecutive terms.

A huge THANK YOU is extended to our volunteer board members for their service to this valuable community-wide ministry. Click on the link below to "Meet the Board."

NEW ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

Sundays, October 9, 16 and 25 at 9:15am

Room 215 across from office

We will look into the history and theology around Melchizedek during this three week class. There are many conspiracy theories about that character, so we will unravel and unpack the real story starting in Genesis, tracking him through the Dead Sea scrolls, and ending up in Hebrews in the New Testament. We’ll even look at some end times eschatology in Genesis! You’ll see the Old Testament come alive and learn to think a bit more like an ancient Israelite. Paul Sims will lead this fascinating discussion.

PRAYERFUL HAIKU

Haiku is a form of poetry from the Japanese, written in 17 syllables, divided into three lines of 5, 7, 5 syllables. This week’s edition of Sharing the Good News features haiku prayers, short pauses for various times of day, inspired by the hymn "Lord of All Hopefulness," ELW 765.
