Toward Our Shared Future

THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday

We will join with our downtown Halifax sister churches again; this will be the first of three weeks at Fort Massey (corner of Queen and Tobin Streets). Rev. Beth Hayward will be preaching. Everyone is invited to stay for ice cream sandwiches and lemonade after the service. How summery is that?

We look forward to continuing to worship with you this summer!

Susan is taking vacation for the month of August. In her absence, any pastoral care emergencies may be sent to Rev. Beth Hayward.

At Saint Andrew's the work of the church continues all summer. We have spaces to reorganize, rental contracts to send to the many groups who call Saint Andrew's home, and programs to prepare for our return in September. Sunday Suppers continues every week and can always use your help.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Basic Income Conference September 7

All United Church folks are warmly encouraged to attend the Basic Income Conference that will take place on Saturday, Sept 7th, at the Halifax Central Library. This event is FREE and includes lunch! Come hear and be inspired by a range of speakers advocating for a basic income for all, with additional speakers on food and housing security. Speakers include Senator Kim Pate, Nigaan Sinclair, Dr. Gary Bloch, and reps from the “PEI Experiment.” See the poster here. For more information, contact Rob Fennell at scotiafriends@hotmail.com

Sunday Suppers needs our help!

There has been a substantial increase in need in our city. Sunday Suppers served +17.5% more guests in the first half of 2024. Volunteers are needed to serve and to cook.

Sleeping bags and tents (new or clean and gently used) are also needed.

Please contact us in the church office or come on Sunday afternoon and lend a hand. Groups can also come but we ask that you give advance notice to the Sunday Supper team.
